We are just a week away from the 2022 Royal Rumble. WWE has managed to once again build a huge PPV event, but like always – the attention is on the two battle royale matches. 30 men and 30 women will battle for a chance to head to Wrestlemania. However, this year the women’s match is filled with names from the past of WWE – but two ladies wanted nothing to do with the match.
The IINspriation Didn’t Feel Like Returning To WWE For The Royal Rumble Was The Right Move In 2022
These would be none other than the current Impact Wrestling Knockout Tag Team Champions, The IIspriration. This news comes from Fightful.com reporter Sean Ross Sapp, who had the following to say.
“The IInspiration, formerly known as WWE Tag Team Champions The IIconics were offered a spot in the Rumble match, but Fightful sources indicate that they turned down the offer.”
This offer was turned down as The IInspiration felt it was not the right move for their current career path. As the current Impact Wrestling Knockout Tag Team Champions, a focus on Impact Wrestling is the right move – and showing up to WWE for a cheap pop and quick elimination in the Royal Rumble would just serve to potentially make them look weak.
WWE Split This Team Up For Zero Reason In 2020
While in WWE they were able to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at Wrestlemania, that was all they can really boast from their run in WWE. Despite WWE trying to build up a tag team division for the ladies, WWE would split this duo up. It was originally planned to be so Peyton Royce could shine in singles, only for her to end up in a tag team with Lacey Evans – before both were released from the company in April 2021.
Since then, they’ve been able to bounce back quickly – and are now one of the most entertaining acts in the company. This is not the only released talent WWE is bringing back to the mix for this match – with Mickie James set to show up. The idea of WWE releasing talents and hoping to bring them back for a reaction in the Royal Rumble has not sat well with many fans of WWE.
