Jake Paul has yet another ultimatum for the UFC president. Only days after offering to “retire from boxing” should White meet his demands, which included a pay raise and healthcare for UFC fighters, Paul has offered to reduce his end of the bargain.
In a recent Tweet, Paul amended the offer: “Dana last day to accept my offer…you are a good negotiator. In an effort to bridge the gap, I’m willing to reduce my ask to $40K min, 40% rev for first 5 years and long term health care.
Jake Paul Makes Final Offer to Dana White
Deal? Or are you making another selfie video showing the world how much I’m in your head?” Paul’s initial “offer”, floated to White in the early days of 2022, is below:
“Happy new year Dana White. Here is a real challenge for you… I will immediately retire from boxing and fight Jorge Masvidal in the UFC if you agree to:
- Increase minimum fighter pay to $50k (it’s 12k currently)
- Guarantee UFC fighters 50% of the UFC annual revenues ($1bn in 2021)
- Provide long term health care to all fighters (you previously said brain damage is part of the gig… Imagine if the NFL said that). There are many UFC alums who have publicly said they are suffering from brain damage.
You have 5 days to accept and to implement the above by March 31, 2022. Once implemented I will immediately retire from boxing, enter USADA and agree to a 1 fight deal with the UFC to fight weak chin Jorge Masvidal.”
Of course, Dana White quickly responded with a profanity-laden tirade directed at the YouTuber-turned-boxer. It’s unlikely that Jake Paul ever actually intended to deliver on his promises, however.
Paul is an expert at manipulating the attention-driven social media economy, and his rivalry with Dana White is useful for selling pay-per-views for his novelty boxing matches.
Of course, one man who would love to see Paul deliver on his end of the bargain is Jorge Masvidal. Masvidal fell out with Jake Paul sometime after Paul knocked Ben Askren out, and has since made no secret of his dislike for the YouTuber.
Masvidal is unlikely to switch to boxing, but has repeatedly asked Paul to come fight him in the Octagon, even threatening to leave the YouTuber in a wheelchair.
Do you think Dana and Jake will come to a gentleman’s agreement, or is this more social media antics? Let us know in the comments.
