Earlier tonight, AEW properly kicked off their year with a suitably huge episode of AEW Dynamite. It was their debut episode on TBS, moving over from TNT to kick off 2022. A massive night of title matches would follow, including a rematch between Hangman Page & Bryan Danielson, as well as as The Lucha Bros defending their AEW World Tag Team Championships and the crowning of the first ever TNT Champion. However, the show and following taping of AEW Rampage did not go off without a hitch, and two AEW stars have found themselves on the injured list.
Rey Fenix Suffered A Broken Arm During The Main Event Of AEW Dynamite
The first injury came during the main event clash between The Lucha Bros & Jurassic Express. Everything was going smoothly until the the finishing stretch of the match. A table was set up at ringside, and Luchasarus would chokeslam Rey Fenix through it. On the way through, the arm of Fenix beant in an unnatural way.
The match would close out with Jungle Boy rolling up Penta in unexpected fashion, moving the AEW World Tag Team Championships from Lucha Bros to Jurassic Express. Fenix was helped to the back, with a suspected broken arm – and surgery is expected to be needed. This will leave Penta in a singles role, unless PAC is ready to return.
AEW Rampage Spoilers Ahead
The misfortunes would continue to the tapings of AEW Rampage, during the match between AEW newcomer and Adam Cole of The Elite. Reports from the crowd would indictate that Atlas would land awkwardly on his knee during the match. The finish was set to involve the Panama Sunrise from Cole, but Atlas was unable to stand up for it and it would have to be improvised.
Atlas was helped to the back with crutches, but no injury reports have arrived just yet. Seeing as this was his second match with the company, and first after signing – it’s horrible timing for an injury, but could just delay the push that is coming in due time.
Will AEW edit out the injury of Atlas on AEW Rampage? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
