Yesterday in the New Japan Ranbo, four men were left at the end. CIMA, Toru Yano, Chase Owens & Minoru Suzuki. Tonight, they will clash to see who will be the first holder of the King of Pro Wrestling 2022 championship. Yano has ended 2020 and 2021 with the championship, and looks to repeat that success here in 2022.
Minoru Suzuki Is King Of Pro Wrestling 2022
CIMA brought Strong Hearts backup to the match, after shocking fans with his return to NJPW last night. Owens, Suzuki & Owens came without faction backup, and Yano was attacked as the match started by all three men. They’d stomp him out of the ring, and CIMA would match up with Suzuki in the middle of the ring.
CIMA held his own with a dropkick, before ending up in the Rear Naked Choke for just long enough to show it’s possible before CIMA took a forearm shot. Owens & Yano pulled Suzuki from the ring before CIMA hit a suicide dive to the floor. In the ring, Owens hit a running knee on CIMA, before Yano hit him from behind and ran as Suzuki would get into the ring and scare Owens.
Owens got a free shot before Suzuki took him out. Yano would expose a corner and be thrown into it. CIMA applied the deathlock, and hit a suplex on Owens with it applied before Suzuki slapped him down, with Yano paying the price each time. Suzuki applied a sleeper hold, and Owens got one on him, but Yano got the rope so it was all broken up.
Owens nailed C-Trigger on Yano before taking an Air Raid Crash from CIMA before the double knee drop landed. Suzuki was in to break the pin, Yano hit a double low blow but Suzuki kicked out at two before a dropkick. Yano took the Gotch Style Piledriver and Suzuki is KOPW!
On December 15th, House of Torture claimed gold when they defeated the dominant CHAOS trio of YOSHI-HASHI, Tomohiro Ishii and Hirooki Goto. This ended the greatest reign in the history of the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championships – but tonight CHAOS has a chance to regain this gold.
Goto went after EVIL to start this one off hot, getting the spinning wheel kick into the bulldog. Takahashi took the corner pad off as EVIL threw Goto into it. Ishii was there to even the odds, before EVIL got a rake to the eyes of Goto and allowed SHO into the match. YOH saved Goto for a moment before he was again thrown into the steel.
Takahashi grabbed a Fisherman Buster and drove Goto down, but a miscommunication gave a chance to hit a backdrop on EVIL and tag in YOSHI-HASHI. He’d stack up Takahashi & EVIL in the corner, but Takahashi was able to get a kick to the head. Angle Slam would take YOSHI-HASHI down, but he’d come right back with a crushing lariat.
YOH & SHO picked up where their match yesterday left off, with YOH getting the basement dropkick to the head. SHO led a three on one charge to set up a powerbomb, but it only got a two count. He’d grab a wrench to distract the referee and Togo hit the ring to interfere before Ishii cancelled him out. SHO took two superkicks and an Ushigoroshi, and YOH looked for Direct Drive.
DMV would land instead, a suplex into backbreaker, before again wanting Direct Drive. EVIL hit a low blow as Takahashi distracted the referee. SHO used the wrench, and pinned his former friend to win this match.
