One of the fun things about wrestling is all of the stories that are being shared through the various podcasts and interviews. They give us an insight to some of the best, worst, and hilarious moments in professional wrestling history.
One that came out in 2020 but has been making the rounds again is from Otis in the WWE.
While he’s currently a powerhouse heel along with Chad Gable to form the Alpha Academy, he’s a kind, lovable type of person and a long time fan of the WWE.
A young man with goals
Otis appeared on digitalspy.com and talked about when he was in fifth grade he went to a WWE event and attempted to give Trish Stratus a high five.
Definitely a lofty goal for anyone, and as a fellow Trish Stratus fan I applaud his attempt to show support for her. It doesn’t appear the security guard agreed, though there may be a reason for that.
Otis said despite being so young he was 200 pounds, and any security guard seeing him running toward the barricade would react first and think second.
In this case, Otis was introduced to pro wrestling by receiving his first spear.
From the podcast: “So yeah, I made a sacrifice — got speared — but after that spear from the guard we’ve got first row ticket. So it all happened for a reason. I’ve never told Trish that story in person.”
Otis didn’t say whether he was injured at all, but it sounds like he was fine and got to enjoy the show.
Making his move
With him sharing this story, it’s only a matter of time before he gets to see Trish Stratus and tell her about it, if he hasn’t already.
With so many stories of toxic fans, this is a cute one that is understandable for both sides and it was anything but toxic.
The feel good story as grown into a solid career in the WWE where he currently portrays a powerhouse heel, but his charisma bubbles over and it’s easy to picture him as a kid that was excited to see one of his favorites.
The cycle’s complete as he’s grown his own following there’s plenty of room to continue growing.
We’re surprised the WWE hasn’t capitalized on this and put Otis and Trish in a mixed tag match at a pay-per-view. If nothing else, it’d be a cool one off match that would give everyone a cool moment.
