Ever since WALTER lost the NXT UK Championship to Ilja Dragunov, he’s been missing from NXT. However, tonight he returns to aid the NXT Tag Team Champions against the former champions of MSK. Add in Matt Riddle also making his return to the NXT ring, and we have a trios match that could set the pace for the entire year of NXT 2.0.
WALTER Is Here To Remind Why He’s The Ring General
WALTER hit the ring with his tag team partners, looking as threatening as ever. MSK & Riddle meanwhile rode scooters to the ring – with a remixed theme merging Riddle & MSK’s themes. Bartel & Carter would kick this fight off, and Carter was taken to the mat with ease and stretched. Carter tried to spring his way free and got the armdrag, before hitting a basement dropkick to the face.
Aichner got the blind tag, and caught Carter with an armdrag and armlock. Carter got free and tagged in Lee, who threw his fast strikes – only to be yanked into a hard lariat from Aichner. Riddle got the tag in and met with WALTER himself. A forearm and some kicks caught WALTER before a chest splitting chop sent Riddle to the mat.
Aichner tagged in, and MSK would cut him down before Bartel suffered a similar fate. Lee was run down by WALTER, who handled MSK with ease – catching Lee off a crossbody, and setting him up for some sandwich kicks from Bartel & Aichner. WALTER would apply the surfboard stretch on Carter, before Aichner applied the STF.
Riddle Hits His Own Version Of The RKO
Carter was getting desperate for a tag, but WALTER shut him down before Riddle got back in. He’d get free again, but Imperium again removed the tag options before WALTER nailed a big boot and hip drop. Riddle was able to get the tag and hit the overhead kick on WALTER before an exploder suplex. He’d try for the Orton hanging DDT, before getting the Final Flash on WALTER before a PK on the floor.
MSK & Riddle hit tandem dives, and in the ring Riddle got a two count off a German Suplex. Riddle was hearing some voices, but WALTER shut them up with a shotgun dropkick into a powerbomb for a two count. Imperium set up a combo suplex, but MSK were there to save Riddle before the three count.
Europen Bomb was set but Riddle fought free, before again suplexing WALTER. Carter & Lee tagged in and hit the combo blockbuster before a Floating Bro to Aichner and RKO to Bartel for the win!
Never Count Out Mandy Rose
Mandy Rose has yet to really prove herself as NXT Women’s Champion, after she only got the win by the aid of Dakota Kai. Tonight, her plan is to have both opponents take each other out, as Cora Jade & Raquel Gonzalez have been showing issues in their alliance. However, Rose might be overlooking how dangerous a triple threat could be – and her reign might suffer because of it.
Rose arrived in a helicopter, Gonzalez on a motorcycle, and Jade on her tiny skateboard. Gonzalez went right to work by booting Jade down, before swinging her around to set up a powerslam only to be rolled up for a two count. Sent to the outside, Jade would dive onto Gonzalez, before Rose would send Jade into the ring to try to win this match.
Jade would grab a roll up on Rose but Gonzalez made the save. She’d lift up both Jade & Rose for a double Samoan Drop, before Rose brought a kendo stick into the match. This led to Jade & Gonzalez getting into an argument, and Rose took advantage before applying a bodyscissor hold on Jade.
Gonzalez broke up the hold and hit some body slams before Jade hit an impressive step up hurricanrana on Rose… before falling into a backbreaker from Gonzalez. Jade was thrown outside, with Rose dodging the body and trying to run but Gonzalez made chase. Rose was beaten with clubbing blows, but leaving the ring and slipping in allowed her to hit a lungblower for a two count.
Gonzalez would look for the win off a powerbomb but Jade broke up the pin with a diving senton. Jade shoved Gonzalez to the outside, only for Rose to pin Jade to win this match and remain champion.
