Ever since Bobby Lashley made his WWE debut, there was a feeling that his job was to replace Brock Lesnar. This has built up a dream match, with fans hoping these two men could clash. Tonight, it finally happens. We’ve gotten tastes over the month of January, but tonight it’s Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley, one on one – with the WWE Championship on the line. No need to pinch yourself, because this is no longer a dream.
A Dream Match Finally Come True As Bobby Lashley Meets Brock Lesnar
After a video package that was longer than some of the matches both men have under their belt, Lashley would hit the ring ready to battle. MVP was in his corner like always. Brock Lesnar had Paul Heyman back in his corner, just like old times. There was a lack of energy after the last match and an accident with the Wrestlemania sign catching fire – but if anyone can bring a crowd back, it’s these two.
Paul Heyman would do the ring introduction for Lesnar – and called him the Bobby Smashing Beast – and this got the biggest crowd reaction since Ronda Rousey made her return. MVP would hype up Lashley, and the bell would ring. An opening lockup showed these two as evenly matched in terms of power, before Lesnar nailed his first German Suplex. Lashley would be right back to his feet – and hit a German Suplex of his own to the enjoyment of Brock.
Lashley would nail a spear, hitting the historically weak spot of Lesnar hard twice. On the outside, a barricade spear was sidestepped by Lesnar who expected this after Day One. Lesnar was thrown into the ring post, before hitting a German Suplex in the ring. A second and a third would land, and Lashley was on the train to Suplex City – but would find a chance to apply the Hurt Lock.
In breaking the hold up, Lesnar drove Lashley into the referee before dropping both Lashley & the referee with an F5. Roman Reigns would hit the ring, and nail a spear on Lesnar while the referee was down. Heyman passed the WWE Championship to Reigns, who smashed Lesnar with the belt and Lashley took the pinfall win.
