Let’s look at three more WWE video games that you either forgot about or never knew existed. I have to say this one has one that could be considered a classic of sorts and two interesting games that were here, gone, and definitely forgotten about shortly after support for them ended.
WWF Superstars (1992)
The only reason this game would be considered forgotten is that it dropped on the OG Gameboy. Other than that, WWF Superstars was another run-of-the-mill early 90s wrestling game.
3 More WWE Games Lost to Time and Dust
It’s simpler because it’s on a handheld. However, it was pretty damn fun to play especially with the roster—not that you had much variety in attacks or movesets.
The sequel featured a cage match which was off for the Gameboy.
WWE Crush Hour (2003)
You know what? People forget about WWE Crush Hour and it is a forgettable game. I had a blast playing this though. It was basically as if WWE and Twisted Metal had a kid. More interesting than the gameplay is the storyline of Vince McMahon having so much money that he bought all of the TV networks in the world.
To fill the broadcasting slots, he makes the WWE superstars do all his TV shows and Crush Hour is one such show. I thought this was just a hilarious, over-the-top backstory for a game and I wish WWE did it more games geared towards kids
WWE With Authority (2001)
This was an interesting WWE video game in that it was one of the earliest online WWE-licensed games. WWE With Authority was an online card game, so think a proto-version of the mobile game WWE SuperCard. It launched in 2001 but was abandoned in 2003.
One major strike against it was that players didn’t like to constantly pay for card packs. Honestly, it was a little too ahead of its time because players pay for all kinds of in-game currency and cosmetics now.
As with any early online game with a following, WWE With Authority continued to thrive at a far smaller level thanks to a dedicated fan community.
