The AEW run of Jake Atlas is off to a rough start to say the least. Coming into AEW around the end of 2021, he’d manage just two matches before suffering an injury during his match on AEW Rampage against Adam Cole. While at first it seemed that Atlas was able to avoid a major injury, his latest update indicates that he will not be in an AEW for several months.
Jake Atlas Tore His ACL During Match With Adam Cole
Taking to Twitter to keep his fans up to date, Atlas would inform that he has suffered an ACL tear. The full statement is as follows.
My injury from my match with Adam Cole is, unfortunately, a torn ACL. I’m in good spirits, though. AEW has been extremely supportive throughout & surgery yesterday was a success. I’m disappointed that this occurred so soon after my return to wrestling & joining AEW, BUT I’m not going anywhere. I’m not quitting. I worked diligently with prehab before surgery & I look forward to getting straight to work on rehab now post-surgery so that I can get back in the ring as soon as possible & do what I do best.
Atlas Will Make Up For Lost Time Upon His Return
Once Atlas is cleared to return to the ring, we can expect him to very quickly make up for lost time. We saw the best version of Atlas yet when he went toe to toe with Adam Cole, and we will see him come back with extra motivation after this career halting injury. It’s very possible that we could see him become TNT Champion shortly after his return, creating a ‘feel good moment’ with a surprise return and big title win.
Right now, we can expect Atlas to be out until around the fall, with ACL injuries generally keeping someone down for 9 to 12 months. It varies from person to person, but we can safely say that Atlas will not be involved in the Ladder Match at AEW Revolution – which is expected to have a surprise entrant once again.
