Camilla Parker Bowles may be one of the most disliked royal figures in the United Kingdom, however, the Duchess of Cornwall is poised to become Queen Consort when Prince Charles ascends the throne. Queen Elizabeth wished for Camilla Parker Bowles to assume the role of Queen consort someday in her platinum jubilee anniversary message on February 5th.
Camilla Pays The Price For Loyalty
Despite Camilla being a senior member of the royal family since 2005, many Brits have not gotten over the fact that her affair with Prince Charles led to the end of the marriage between Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales. Before Princess Diana divorced Prince Charles in 1996, she was one of the most cherished royal family members in the United Kingdom.
Despite Not Being A Fan-favourite, Camilla Will Become Queen Consort
Her social appeal and her charitable deeds made her a global figure that was loved by several people. For these reasons, many royal fans have struggled to come to terms with Camila as the wife of arguably the most powerful monarch in the world someday. Camilla worked hard to convince numerous Brits that she is not as terrible as most people view her to be.
According to an insider, the 74-year old is a close adviser to Queen Elizabeth and has provided brilliant counsel to the Queen on several occasions. Camilla’s loyal service to the Queen deservedly earned her the monarch’s support for her to become Queen Consort putting to bed any possible doubts raised by the public.
In her anniversary message, Queen Elizabeth remarked: “And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife, Camilla, the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”
The Queen consort is a title awarded to the spouse of a reigning King. Although she enjoys the same social status as the King, she is not in any way as powerful as the King. Camilla Parker Bowles may not be liked by many in the UK, however the 74-year old has reaped the dividends of loyal service to a monarchy that once despised her.
