Last night, the first reign as IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions for Robbie Eagles & Tiger Mask IV came to an end. Tonight, they team with young lion Kosei Fujita to take on BULLET CLUBS Cutest Tag Team, and Jado. With Tiger Mask getting up there in the years, that reign might have been his last time in the spotlight – but tonight we’ll see if this Tiger still has claws.
BULLET CLUB Is Fine… Right?
Jado would start, and BULLET CLUB was rattled by the happenings in NJPW, where Jay White double crossed Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa in favour of The Good Brothers. Tiger Mask would learn they’re still effective as ever as they all attacked him, before he’d be able to kick his way to a one on one clash with, before getting isolated and taking a set of super back rakes.
Tiger Mask got free and Eagles was into the ring, and would nail the 619 to the knee to drop El Phantasmo before a double knee strike. ELP would strike back with a dropkick, before Fujita tagged in alongside Ishimori before ending up in the Yes! Lock, before Eagles & Tiger Mask made the save.
ELP set up the Sudden Death, but without the loaded boot just can’t do it. Instead, Ishimori claimed the win with Bloody Cross – but ELP will need to get over losing his best trick at Wrestle Kingdom. After the match, tension was flying – as Ishimori is upset with the recent shortcomings of ELP.
Tomohiro Ishii & Taichi Are Ready For New Japan Cup
Tomohiro Ishii was able to play his role last night, helping YOSHI-HASHI & Hirooki Goto remain IWGP Tag Team Champions. Tonight, his role is to aid young Ryohei Oiwa in battle against the hard hitting Suzuki-Gun duo of Taichi & DOUKI. Both Ishii & Taichi are likely to be in the New Japan Cup – so tonight’s match could set the tone for how March will go for them.
Taichi would kick off against Ishii, with both men dodging the heavy strikes before realising it was a stalemate. Oiwa would tag in and went after Taichi, who takes great pleasure in beating the hell out of Young Lions. DOUKI would tag in, and he is just insane and will beat up anyone. He’d look for the suplex, but Oiwa would fight free.
Ishii tagged in and ran down both Taichi & DOUKI, before trading blows with Taichi in the middle of the ring before nailing a German Suplex. Oiwa tagged in and got the Boston Crab applied – but didn’t even get close to a submission. Taichi asked for Oiwa to hit him – only to wipe him out with the Axe Bomber and Dangerous Backdrop for the win.
Could Taichi or Ishii claim the win in the New Japan Cup? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
