Heather Dubrow’s daughter, Kat, has spoken about the difficulties she has faced following her decision to come out.

Kat, for her part, announced that she was a lesbian. And given that she is just 15-years-old, it was understandably a very difficult thing for her to do.
Not only is her mother one of the stars of the hit TV show ‘The Real Housewives of Orange County,’ but Heather also made the decision to return to the franchise in order to tell her story about her kids’ sexuality in an attempt to normalise it.
But the reality of that is much more complicated. During an episode of the show, Kat spoke on the difficulties that she had experienced, as a result of the negative perception.
She said: “But when I came out, I was dealing with a lot of homophobia. I had issues with people at school who were saying the f-slur around me and who were just not very supportive of the LGBTQ+ community.”
Hearing those words from your own daughter was something very hard for Heather to come to terms with. After all, Heather had just admitted that her other kids had experienced a lot of support when they made their own revelations.
And given that the whole purpose of her return to the franchise was to show everyone it was possible to live according to your own truth, Heather started to get emotional. She replied: “That just breaks my heart.”
The response on social media was very supportive to the family. A certain subset of people felt that Heather was trying her best to make sure that her children could fit in.
In this way, she was doing everything in her power irrespective of the results. One person wrote: “I have to say @HeatherDubrow is a wonderful mom.
“I love that she’s so supportive…And Kat just do you dear. Don’t let other voices change the way you live. Be proud & keep the big flag.”
As long as Heather and her family continue to do the things that make them happy, then that is the most important thing to remember going forward.
