This past month, we’d see two big debuts on a single episode of AEW Dynamite. Tony Khan brought out not only Keith Lee – but also NJPW star and leader of BULLET CLUB, Jay White. White would not sign an AEW contract – but was still great to see. We now know exactly how he felt about this debut.
Jay White Knows His Own Worth – Was Surprised To Get A Massive Reaction From AEW Fans
While speaking on Busted Open Radio following his AEW debut match against Trent? Jay White would describe how the whole experience felt – and if he was surprised by how the AEW fans reacted to him. He would say the following.
“It did a little bit. It doesn’t surprise me in the sense that, I know my own worth, but it did in the sense that I had no idea what the reaction would be to a bigger, more mainstream audience.
Whether they love me from the start or not, that doesn’t bother me because I know over time people are going to realize my ability, that’s how it’s been from the start.
In terms of that reaction, it was a little surprise, but in a good way. I had nothing to go off in terms of gauging what an audience that size whether they would know me or how they would feel about it.”
A Short Term Deal, With More To Come Down The Line
Right now, the AEW debut of Jay White was a last minute deal – after Tony Khan messed up when hyping up the debut of Keith Lee. He mentioned the ‘Forbidden Door’, leading fans to expect someone from New Japan Pro Wrestling. Thankfully, Jay White is focusing on NJPW Strong and Impact Wrestling, and was able to come in the give fans something special.
Following his win, he’d vanish from programming. Right now, there isn’t a lot for White to do – but once Kenny Omega returns, could return and stir the pot within The Elite. Jay White was the one to kick Kenny Omega out of BULLET CLUB – and took the leadership role for himself.
