Julia Fox was involved in a six-week, well-publicized tryst with Kanye West and the interviews coming out of their amicable breakup have been interesting. In an interview with The New York Times, the actress went into why they broke up and addressed the rumor that she auditioned to be the 44-year-old rapper’s next model muse.
Julia Fox: “It Definitely Felt Like I Was Being Cast in the Role” of Being Kanye West’s Girlfriend
According to Julia Fox, it all came down to time spent together. Being two entertainers, they were constantly busy with travel, promotion, work, and so on in addition to dealing with family. Apparently, it was particularly busy for Fox considering what was going on with West at the time.
Not only that but Fox says that she also mulled over how she would be able to fit West into her own busy life. She told The New York Times:
“I tried my best to make it work. I already had a jam-packed life. How do I fit this really big personality into this already full life? It just wasn’t sustainable. I lost like 15 pounds in that month.”
Considering how the relationship started and ended, there have been questions about if Fox and West were together. It was definitely a relationship but were they a couple? Julia Fox said they never called themselves or each other “boyfriend” or “girlfriend” nor did she audition. Interestingly, she said it did feel like she was being cast in the role.
“It definitely felt like I was his girlfriend. But it also felt like I was being cast in the role of his girlfriend—and he was casting me. He was the orchestrator of it all. It really did feel like a movie.”
Ultimately, she doesn’t seem upset about the breakup and chalks it up as being “amazing” for her and “The exposure was priceless”. Which it was for her, Kanye, and everyone following. With that said, Julia Fox feels that she’ll move past the Kanye period and that he wasn’t even the most interesting thing to happen to her.
