Prince Andrew could end up depending on Queen Elizabeth for financial support for the rest of his life according to Jo Elvin, the host of Palace Confidential on mailplus. The controversial Prince is under pressure to publicly declare the source of the $12m he used to settle the sexual allegation lawsuit with Virginia Guiffre as rumors have it that the Prince was partly funded by the Queen and his brother, Prince Charles.
Prince Andrew No Longer Independent, May Rely On The Queen For The Rest Of His Life
However, Joe Elvin has suggested that the Queen may start funding Prince Andrew officially for the rest of his lifetime. He said on Palace Confidential “With no work on the horizon, presumably he’s going to be relying on his family’s help for the rest of his life?”
Prince Andrew Set To Be Funded By Queen Elizabeth For The Rest Of His Life
Elvin added “It’s important to stress that Prince Andrew is not living on the bread line but he does have a very expensive lifestyle. He may not be working now but he does still live in a very grand house, Royal Lodge at Windsor. The upkeep of that and grounds must be massive”.
Furthermore, Elvin claimed that the 64-year-old Prince, known for his lavish lifestyle, will have no other choice than to run to his mother for funds. He said “Quite what he’s going to do for money going forwards, I don’t know. He will have private investments and money that’s bequeathed to him like other members of the Royal Family. I suspect he will probably have to go to the bank of mum in the future as well.”
Queen Elizabeth is awarded the Sovereign grant that helps her perform her duties as head of state and sustain the numerous royal palaces across the country. No royal is given stipend or salary from the Queen’s sovereign funds, their livelihood are financed by other means.
Nevertheless, Buckingham Palace has refused to make any official statement concerning the financial source of Charles’ lawsuit settlement despite public outcry. To protect the royal family from the controversy, the Queen had earlier stripped Prince Andrew of his royal duties and military honors and is reportedly considering the option of taking away his Councilor of State status.
