Prince Andrew has been slammed online with reports that he could be attending Prince Philip’s memorial.
Prince Andrew Slammed Online After Reports Claim He Could Attend Prince Philip’s Memorial
If this were to happen, it would be the the first time that Andrew has made a public appearance in the aftermath of his sexual assault case against Virginia Giuffre.
While he did settle outside of court and prevent a trial, the very fact of the matter is that this did not stop the criticism he received.
People were of the view that by settling, it was an admission of guilt. Not only that, Andrew had failed to show any remorse in the aftermath of the ruling.
In addition, there are still question marks over who is going to fund the settlement surrounding Virginia’s compensation.
There have been conflicting reports that Andrew will not fund it, as the taxpayer or Queen Elizabeth would step in to provide the compensation.
And with so many things still yet to be resolved, it is understandable that people had a lot to say on the matter. As expected, the response on social media was mixed.
People felt that by Andrew attending, it would undermine the positive work that Philip had done as there would be more focus on Andrew rather than Philip.
Not only that, but by Andrew attending, it would be a sign of major disrespect to all those that had suffered at the hands of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, as it demonstrated that people of power could avoid accountability.
Meanwhile, others were of the view that it was Andrew’s father and therefore he should be allowed to attend irrespective of what he had done.
One person wrote: “If he wants to remember his late Dad, then let him, in private. But this is a public televised ceremony, possibly led by Her Majesty.
“Despite the £12m pay-off to a victim of sex-trafficking, Prince Andrew is still sought by US law enforcement for questioning as “person of interest.”
There is still a long way to go before the memorial, but given what we have seen so far, there is not a lot of appetite for Andrew to attend. So there you have it folks. What did you think about all this? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
