Prince Harry has been warned against presenting the Oscars after reports indicated that he could be lined up to be a presenter at the Academy Awards show.

This revelation is bound to draw a lot of backlash for the following reasons. First of all, Harry had recently indicated that he would not be attending Prince Philip’s memorial.
And given that this would deny Queen Elizabeth of some much-needed support, hosting the Oscars would naturally be unwelcome as it would paint Prince Harry as a hypocrite.
Secondly, as Harry and Meghan Markle have been accused of simply using their association with the Royal family for publicity, hosting the Oscars would only go on to justify those claims.
A source said: “It would be seen as a final kick in the teeth for the royal family if he did – he’s too nervous to fly to London without police protection.
“But happy to stand up in front of a huge live audience at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Not great optics.” This begs the question, how realistic is this?
Well, it is out of the realms of possibilities given that Meghan Markle does have connections in the acting industry. She is an actress by trade, albeit not a household name.
In addition, the couple have crossed over into the celebrity world following their high-profile appearances on Oprah Wifrey, as well as ‘The Ellen Degeneres Show.’ And by the looks of it, steps are being taken to make this happen.
The Academy Awards source stated: “Show producers Will Packer and Shayla Cowan have lined up some amazing A-list names to take to the stage and Harry and Meghan would be the icing on the cake.”
The response on social media was very hostile. People were of the view that the couple did not earn the right to host the ceremony. Meanwhile, a certain subset of people even stated that they would boycott the event if the couple were involved.
One person wrote: “I posted last week that this will be the WORST OSCARS EVER. and so far they are not disappointing.”
Time will tell whether the couple go through with this, but based on what we have seen so far, there is not a lot of appetite for it. So there you have it folks.
