At this point, it’s impossible to deny that Brock Lesnar is a legend in the history of WWE. First making his debut back in 2002, his initial climb to the top was one of the fastest in company history, rivalled by only the likes of Kurt Angle & Ronda Rousey.
However, his initial run in the company only lasted two years – before he’d pack his bags and leave, heading to New Japan Pro Wrestling and the world of MMA soon after. This left a bad taste in a lot of mouths in WWE, but one man completely understood – and that was The Undertaker.
The Undertaker Knew Brock Lesnar Would Find His Way Back When The Time Was Right
While speaking on True Geordie, Undertaker would speak about working with Lesnar during his first run in the company. Undertaker had the following to say.
”It was fun watching his ascent, it was fun being in the ring. Brock, especially his first time through, you look at him and think, ‘there is no way any human being, built like that, that looks like that, can move like that.’ It was always fun to work with him.”
As for advice that he gave a clearly unhappy Lesnar, Undertaker would say the following.
“Brock was at a point where he wanted to do something different. I told him, he was thinking about going to play pro football, I said, ‘Brock, you have to do what’s right for Brock.’ Everyone is going to be pissed that you’re going to leave and they put all this money and push behind you, but if you don’t go do this, you’re going to look back with a what if.’
I don’t know how much influence it had. He did end up leaving. He tried football, didn’t work, he ends up in the UFC. I didn’t hold any grudge. In the back of my mind, I felt like he would be back some day. It’s usually the way it works out. I do know that you can’t life with ‘what if.’ I didn’t have a big problem like most people did with it.”
Lesnar Returned To WWE And Became A Legend Over A Decade
The return of Brock Lesnar to WWE came in 2012, after he’d become a much bigger star thanks to his time in UFC. Ten years later, Lesnar is still around in WWE – and is the current WWE Champion in his seventh reign. He will be facing Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania in a title unification match – which is being billed as the biggest match in Wrestlemania history.
All in all, leaving WWE was the right call for Lesnar. If he had stuck around, he’d have had a great career – but maybe not a legendary one. Were you watching WWE during the first run of Brock Lesnar? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
