We’re on our way to a massive ladder match for the NXT North American Championship at NXT 2.0: Stand & Deliver. Carmelo Hayes is in the mix as the defending champion, and Santos Escobar was able to qualify last week when he defeated Cameron Grimes. Tonight, Roderick Strong clashes with Solo Sikoa to see which will join the field next.
Solo Sikoa Earns Way Into Ladder Match
An early lockup would see Strong able to quickly trip Sikoa up. The arm was snatched before Strong looked to move into a sleeper hold. Sikoa would fling Strong off, and nail a heavy shoulder tackle. Some headbutts to Strong would follow, before sending him to the apron.
Strong would hit a jawbreaker using the middle rope, dropping Sikoa for some stomps. Camel Clutch would be applied, and while Sikoa kicked out – he’d catch a boot to the face for a one count shortly after. Strong hit one of his signature backbreakers, but was only good for a two count.
Sikoa would be cut down with a mid kick, but again was able to keep in the fight. Angle Slam would land, and Santos Escobar would make his time down to the ringside area – scouting his potential opponents. Sikoa would fight Strong into the corner for a splash before the pop up into Samoan Drop – before taking the top rope splash for the win!
Tony D’Angelo Gets Big Win Ahead Of Stand & Deliver
At NXT 2.0 Stand & Deliver – Tony D’Angelo will look to have the Pulse of NXT sleep with the fishes. However, tonight he needs to worry about Dexter Lumis – not Tommaso Ciampa. This is the first match from Lumis since January 18th, but has Indi Hartwell in his corner. Also Persia Pirotta & Duke Hudson are lurking as well.
D’Angelo would quickly take Lumis down to the mat, before nearly ending up in Silence. Lumis would get the Thesz Press before a falling elbow drop. D’Angelo would get slammed down into the middle of the ring, before hitting a jawbreaker and heading out of the ring for a breather.
Lumis would follow D’Angelo to the floor, where Lumis was tripped face first onto the steel steps. After a commercial break, D’Angelo has remained in control, applying a bulldog choke in the ring. Lumis slipped free, and was able to uncork some hard right hands. A suplex would see Lumis follow up with a leg drop, before both men looked for lariats – forcing a double down.
At ringside, Duke Hudson would try to run a distraction – but Indi Hartwell would grab the crowbar. A fight over the weapon followed, and Lumis would get smacked just out of the view of the referee. Fisherman Neckbreaker would follow, and D’Angelo got the win.
After the match, D’Angelo would call out Ciampa – and got blindsided and nailed with Fairytale Ending. He’d say that Stand & Deliver might be his final chapter in NXT – but D’Angelo will not be the author.
Will Tony D’Angelo be able to step up to Tommaso Ciampa’s level at Stand & Deliver? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
