Next week at New Years Evil, NXT will have one less championship to call it’s own. The NXT Cruiserweight Championship & NXT North American Championship are on the line in a unification match. It’s Roderick Strong vs. Carmelo Hayes, Black & Gold vs. 2.0. Tonight, it becomes official as they put ink to paper.
The Title Unification Match Is Now Official, Carmelo Hayes vs. Roderick Strong Happens Next Week
Trick Williams & Carmelo Hayes would call Strong the B-Champion, because he won’t be champion for long. Diamond Mine are here to back Strong up, and he’s more than up to bringing the fight. Wade Barrett was trying to make sense of the argument, much like the fans in the arena.
He’d just try to speak to the champions, and Hayes would talk first. When he says he shoots and doesn’t miss, that’s a lifestyle. Hayes asked Strong to take a look at the men he’s dropped, and realize there is nothing different. Strong would respond and say that talk is cheap, but he’ll show Hayes why he’s the A-Champion next week.
The contract was inked, and the match is official. Next week, one man will have all the gold. Every contract signing needs a broken table, and the Creed Brothers would plant Williams through it.
Solo Sikoa Continues His Undefeated Streak Thanks To Xyon Quinn
Legado Del Fantasma has a Xyon Quinn issue, but tonight they have to deal with Solo Sikoa. He’s called out the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion, and has his biggest match to date. Santos Escobar is as experienced as NXT 2.0 has on the roster, and is ready to shut down the undefeated rising star.
Escobar would force Sikoa to the ropes, and threw a big overhand chop. Sikoa shaked this off, before Escobar would be caught with a school boy – but was able to roll through. A hammerlock was applied, and Escobar would wrench down on the arm. The crowd started an Uso chant, references to his brother, as Escobar took him to the mat with a leg trip.
Another Uso chant started as Sikoa got a chance, only to have his wrist grabbed. Sikoa would break the grip of Escobar and hit a big lariat and running splash for a two count. Escobar slipped to the outside, and Sikoa followed. Raul Mendoza and Joaquin Wilde would distract, before Escobar hit a running knee strike.
Back from the break, Escobar would have control in the ring with a surfboard stretch. Sikoa broke free and hit a chop before being caught with a Russian Leg Sweep. A single leg crab was applied by Escobar, and Sikoa would fight to the ropes. Escobar came right back with a dropkick and fujiwara armbar.
Sikoa would keep on fighting, getting back to his feet before blocking the suplex and tossing Escobar across the ring. A Samoan Drop took Escobar down before a running senton, before Wilde & Mendoza ran a distraction. Sikoa took a super hurricarana, only for Quinn to to come to ringside. Escobar dove onto Quinn, and this just gave the opening for a superkick and splash to end the match.
