At NXT Wargames, Dexter Lumis made his return from a hand injury – having hid under the ring to prevent Trick Williams from causing too much harm during the main event. Williams & Carmelo Hayes were the ones who put Lumis on the shelf, and now Lumis gets his chance to get revenge – and potentially earn a shot at the NXT North American Championship in the process. Hayes is still showing the damage of WarGames, but the A Champion is always ready to go.
Dexter Lumis Can’t Take His Eyes Off Trick Williams
Lumis would start off hard with Hayes, nailing the throat thrust. Williams would catch the attention of Lumis at ringside, and Hayes would get the control briefly. Hayes would be thrown into the corner, before having his rib wrappings used to be yanked up and down in the ring.
Lumis landed a heavy scoop slam, before going after Trick Williams at ringside. He’d hide behind Wade Barrett before Hayes looked to make the save and take a throat thrust. Back in the ring, he’d catch Lumis with a springboard lariat to get some control again. Attacking the injured hand with a stomp would come next and some finger bending followed.
Clearly he learned from his beatings at the hand of Pete Dunne, but it wasn’t enough as Lumis got a Thesz Press and hammer drop in the middle of the ring. Again, Lumis went after Trick Williams, and Hayes took advantage with a running boot as we went to a commercial break.
Coming back, Hayes would have maintained control through the break – using attacks on the hand to keep things steady. Lumis would keep on fighting, but Hayes was in control. Williams got in the face of Lumis and got spooked, before Lumis nailed a suplex and leg drop on Hayes for a two count.
Silence attempt was countered on the first go, and the second time it was too close to the ropes. Williams hit a punch to cause a DQ, before Hayes saved him from being choked out.
Match Rating: 2.75/5 (***)
Matt Riddle Is Back In NXT With MSK!
Following this match, we’d catch up with MSK on their search for The Shaman. Matt Riddle himself! Riddle has been waiting for weeks, watching their journey. He’d put his shaman hat on and get some heart to heart going. They started off NXT on a massive rush, winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and NXT Tag Team Championships.
Riddle remembered winning the belts with Stallion Pete, who he misses everyday. No one told him Pete is alive. Imperium beat them for the belts, but nothing needs to change with their style. They need to be themselves, now with Riddle in their corner. But first, they need to share what’s in their bag of magic. They proceeded to likely get high as hell. This is going to be a fun time.
Toxic Attraction Bounce Back From WarGames Loss
This past Sunday at WarGames, Toxic Attraction lost after Cora Jade got the pinfall. Tonight, they show that it doesn’t matter as they’re still draped in gold. Forez & Leon would get the chance to face the NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, Gigi Dolin & Jacy Jayne.
Still feeling the effects of WarGames, both champions were a bit wrapped up. Jayne started and would be taken into a headlock before being rolled up for two. Leon would come in and take wrist control, but missed a tag to Dolin. Dolin would take control with a heavy forearm strike. Jayne would maintain the control with a sleeper hold.
Leon fought back with a running firemans carry slam, making the tag to Forez. Some quick takedowns and a shotgun dropkick was followed by a huge crossbody. Dolin survived, and Jayne would get the win off a superkick.
Who can crack the gold rush of Toxic Attraction? Cora Jade is certainly going to try when her arm is healed. She’d be backed up by Raquel Gonzalez with a steel chair, and Toxic Attraction fled. Will Jade or Gonzalez claim gold at New Years Evil? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
