Thunder Rosa has had a rocky start to her reign as AEW Women’s World Champion, but the real work starts tonight. Beating the champion and claiming the belt is one thing, remaining champion once you have that target on your back is another entirely. Former champion Nyla Rose has stepped up – and tonight will look to become the first ever two time AEW Women’s World Champion.

Thunder Rosa Has A Ton Of Fight

Nyla would start off fast with a set of lariats, before taking this match to the outside. Rosa was driven into the barricade, before she’d launch off the ringpost to hit a bulldog on the floor. Nyla took some kicks on the floor, before an overhand chop to the chest – and met the barricade herself.

Back in the ring, Rosa would nail a missile dropkick – but only got a one count. Nyla would stomp Rosa into the corner before choking her with the boot. Rosa would find her footing and use the low bridge on the ropes to send Nyla to the floor.

The senton off the apron would see Nyla catch Rosa and nail the powerbomb onto the apron. Rosa tried to crawl into the ring, but was taken off the apron with a suplex. Back in the ring, Rosa would batter Nyla with some strikes, before running into a shoulder breaker – which granted Nyla a near fall.

Rosa would be able to fire back with a tilt-a-whirl into a russian leg sweep. A submission attempt would follow, but Nyla got the ropes for the break. Rosa would nail a stunner, getting a Texas sized pop. A double knee strike and basement dropkick would follow, before a second dropkick.

Better Luck Next Time, Nyla Rose

Nyla went to the outside and was dropped with the wrecking ball dropkick – before Rosa came off the top rope with a tornillo. Back in the ring, Nyla would catch the crossbody attempt, but was unable to hit the slam. Rosa took a boot to the face, before being draped across the top rope.

Nyla went up top, and would miss the knee drop. Rosa would look for the diving hurricarana, but was caught. Nyla was thinking Beast Bomb – but Rosa would nail a massive Code Red for a near fall. Rosa would be dropped with a chokeslam, and Nyla would look for a splash.

Rosa gother boots up, but Nyla was one step ahead and was able to prevent the counter. A massive lariat would follow, before Nyla nailed a Falcon Arrow for the near fall. Nyla would make a mistake looking the diving senton to the apron – just getting the hardest part of the ring.

Rosa was caught with a big slam in the ring – but was able to kick out. She’d get the hurricarna, and was able to hold Nyla down for the three count – and remains AEW Women’s World Champion!
