CM Punk is looking to get a shot at the AEW World Heavyweight Champion, be that Hangman Page or Adam Cole – and to get there, he needs to win some big matches. He’d call for the best to face him tonight on AEW Dynamite, and Tony Khan responded with a huge match. Tonight, for the first time ever – CM Punk goes one on one with Penta Oscuro. Penta is someone who is also looking for some big wins after falling to House of Black – and beating CM Punk would shoot him to the top of the rankings.
Penta Says – No Fear
Penta would start off by once again yelling he has zero fear before trading chops with Punk in the middle of the ring to the glee of the fans. They’d call back to Frye vs. Takayama with some wild blows, before Penta hit a superkick.
Punk would regain his footing and show some fancy footwork in the corner as he hit a hip toss. Penta would grab an ankle lock after dropping Punk to the mat, before being sent off into the corner. Punk nailed the rising knee – only for Penta to fire back with a set of slingblades sending Punk to the floor.
Penta would look for a dive to the floor, but Punk was able to dodge and set up a dive of his own, wiping out Penta. Back in the ring, Penta would call for Punk to bring his hardest strikes before taking a set of mid kicks and a vertical suplex. Punk applied a Bow & Arrow stretch, but Penta was able to fight his way free.
CM Punk Catches Penta Oscuro Out Of The Sky
Off to the apron, Punk would meet Penta and try to work up to the top rope with a hurricanrana – but lost his footing. Punk crashed down to the mat, showing some potentially serious damage to the knee. Penta would be able to block a GTS attempt, before going for an armbreaker. Punk would block and apply the Anaconda Vice!
Penta would get the bottom rope, before this one spilled back out to the apron, where he’d look for the Fear Factor. Punk blocked and looked for a piledriver of his own, before just opting for a head kick. Coming off the rope with a springboard, Punk nailed a lariat before the rising knee in the corner.
A short-arm lariat would follow, before Penta called for the Go To Sleep. Punk pulled Penta up, but the knee strike was blocked and Penta would nearly move right into Fear Factor. An enziguri would land instead, and he’d look to snap the arm. Punk blocked into a pinfall, before catching Penta out of the air on a springboard to nail GTS for the win.
