Since arriving in AEW, The Hardy Boyz have been working their way through the Andrade Family Office. Matt Hardy’s former allies have become vicious enemies, and tonight alongside Jeff Hardy – he will take on the toughest of them. The Butcher & The Blade have been hired mercs since they joined AEW, and tonight will be tasked at taking down The Hardy Boyz in a tables match.
Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz Get Some Payback On The J.A.S
Before this match we’d see Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz run the Jericho Appreciation Society out of the building. This was revenge for the recent beatdown, and Kingston would hit the ring – and called Jericho a two faced coward. Every member of the JAS is on sight for Kingston, and he knows where most of them live.
Ortiz would pitch a six man tag team match for next week on AEW Dynamite. Kingston is ready for some serious revenge, and will get it next week on Dynamite in New Orleans. Santana & Ortiz have also been needing a chance to let out their anger on Jericho, and will get it.
Butcher & The Blade Go To War With The Hardys
Butcher would break a table to start this match and would attack Matt, as Blade would set a table up in the corner of the ring. Jeff would fight back, before being run down with a lariat. Blade would run himself through a table, before Butcher tried to out Matt through the timekeepers table.
Butcher would look for a German Suplex through a table in the ring, but The Hardyz would hit a double DDT before Matt set him up on a table. Blade would stop Jeff from making the dive, before hitting the Pepper Shaker Neckbreaker. Butcher would hold Jeff up, and Blade came down, before sending him through the table.
It was just Butcher & Blade vs. Matt Hardy at this point, with Jeff eliminated from the match. Butcher would have a hard time setting up the table – before taking this one outside. Matt would avoid a spear through the table, but Butcher wouldn’t be eliminated yet. Jeff would come back and help Matt before being thrown into the steel steps.
Matt would use a steel chair to punish Butcher, before setting him up on the table. Butcher was sent through with a leg drop, leaving just Blade vs. Matt Hardy. Matt would miss an elbow drop off the apron and go through a table, before being tossed into the barricade.
A double suplex would see Matt just hit the floor, with Jeff Hardy pulling the table away. Butcher was hit with a leg drop, before Blade took Twist Of Hate. Matt nailed a Twist of Fate, and Jeff grabbed a ladder. Two tables were set up by the ladder, and Blade was set onto it. Jeff would climb high, and would hit a Swanton through the table for a win.
Hikaru Shida Enters The Owen Hart Cup
We’ve already seen Toni Storm & Jaime Hayter earn their way into the Owen Hart tournament. Now, both former AEW World Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida and Varsity Blondes Julia Hart will have a chance. Shida is looking to regain her footing after a series of brutal beatdowns from Serena Deeb. Hart meanwhile is looking for her first big signature win in AEW. Only one can earn a spot in the tournament.
Hart would attack Shida before the bell with a kick to the back, before choking Shida with her jacket. She’d send Pillman & Garrison to the back when questioned, before getting dropped across the turnbuckle and nailed with a knee strike. Shida grabbed a steel chair, and set it up to launch off with the dropkick.
Hart would be able to come back with a DDT in the ring, before a snapmare into a back kick. Shida would fight free of a surfboard stretch, only to take a standing moonsault. Hart would trade blows with Shida, before taking a rushing knee strike in the corner. A suplex would follow, with Hart being taken from the apron into the ring.
Shida would get her eyes gouged before taking a bulldog for a near fall. The splash off the top would fail – and Tamashi into the Falcon Arrow got Shida the win. After the match, Deeb looked to hit from behind, but was unable to get the jump.
