For weeks now, AEW has been building hype for the next defence of the TBS Championship. Jade Cargill holds a 29-0 record, and wanted a big challenge for her 30th win. Enter Marina Shafir, who has been honing her skills on AEW Dark – and has earned the simple nickname of ‘The Problem’. With her new baddie section, and Red Velvet & Keira Hogan in her corner – Jade Cargill tonight plans on being the problem solver.
Before this match, Jade Cargill was still just checking her phone – showing that she does not fear The Problem. Mark Sterling claimed that at first – he was concerned about the MMA background of Shafir, about her black belt. Jade Cargill however takes every match seriously when she hits that ring – and is constantly improving.
Jade Cargill Dominates Shafir In The Early Goings
Shafir was laser focused coming into the biggest match of her AEW career. Jade meanwhile put her hands behind her back and welcomed the first strike. She’d dodge the punch before taking two hard leg kicks. Shafir looked for a chokehold, before being tossed off.
Cargill would hit a Fallaway Slam, before sending Shafir to the outside with a lariat over the top rope. Shafir was thrown into the baddie section, with Red Velvet getting some blows in while Mark Sterling would distract the referee.
A heavy chop from Cargill closed out this mugging, before this one found it’s way back into the ring. A backdrop suplex would take Shafir down, before Cargill hit the ground and pound. Cargill took a moment to taunt – and Shafir found her opening.
She’d target the leg of Cargill, before applying a chokehold. Cargill would power out into Eye of The Storm, but only got a two count. Shafir would be tossed across the ring, before Cargill applied an abdominal stretch.
Cargill Solves The Problem
She’d grind her knuckles into the ribs, before a back elbow to the face. A jumping high knee broke the guard of Shafir, before another near fall. Cargill nailed a set of vertical suplexes, before going back to the stretch. Shafir would hit a hip toss before picking the ankle and going for the heel hook.
Cargill went for the up kick – falling for the trap, with Shafir applying the hold completely. The champion was able to get the bottom rope, before having her knee wrapped around the ring post. A heavy leg kick would follow, before Shafir tossed Sterling to the ground. The baddie section would run the distraction, before Cargill hit the big pump kick. Shafir was driven through the time keepers table with a chokeslam – but Cargill rolled her into the ring and took a second to gloat.
A cocky pinfall would allow Shafir to once again apply the heel hook – but she was able to try and kick her way free. Shafir had no give, but enough kicks would subdue anyone. Jaded would land, and Cargill is 30-0, and still TBS Champion.
