The good Samaritan, the breaker of chains, the releaser from censure, the Martin Luther King of these days, the real Batman, Elon Musk. These were the epithets that the billionaire received during his ongoing Twitter saga. The people were looking at him as a hero. As someone who might truly build something better for the world while not being selfish.
However, this might come to an end now after the last leaked information suggests – he might monetize tweets. We are not speaking about regular tweets with no meaning, but legitimate quote-tweets, or viral tweets from verified accounts.
Elon Musk Will Charge To Embed Or Quote Tweets
He grasped over this opportunity to make money since he first laid thought on buying the platform. He knew that Twitter is lagging behind other social media such as Facebook and Instagram, or even Pinterest, but nonetheless, he decided to buy it in any case.
Elon sees another fortune well in the websites that incorporate tweets into their content. He will put a charge to this as well. So no more free quotes. You will need to think twice before quoting something that you take from Twitter.
There is however a catch in all of the above. The catch is that as a result, he will be able to make Twitter as less ads dependent as possible. “The power of corporations to dictate policy is greatly enhanced if Twitter depends on advertising money to survive.” – as he earlier wrote. And we must confess that there is some weight in this.
As previously announced Elon Musk is going forward with his initial idea to replace all ‘questionable’ people. People that he sees as potential accomplices in the Twitter censuring that reigned throughout the years. For example, from the beginning, he did not like Parag Agrawal, the current CEO. He revealed that he already has a new one in mind. However, who does he think of has not been yet publicized.
Lastly, he openly is against the censorship policy of Twitter. Most probably we are looking at a total changeover. A changeover in the general counseling department, in the safety policy team, and finally in the legal counseling department.
The billionaire is eagerly waiting for the day when Vijaya Gadde, the chief legal officer of Twitter will leave the company. He talks many times that he does not like her at all. Elon even accused her of being one of the most important people for the censoring on the platform.
Whatever he decides to do, we are looking at one breakthrough in the social media world, and we passionately wait to see how it will end. Will it be better? How do you feel about paying to share a viral tweet? Is that something that you would do?
