Last night, fans got a good look at what Kyle O’Reilly can do in an AEW ring outside of his tag team work alongside Bobby Fish. He took Jungle Boy beyond his limits, and earned a spot in the Owen Hart Memorial Cup in the process. A former ROH World Champion is expected to be great in the ring – but O’Reilly credits his time in WWE NXT for making him a much more well rounded wrestler.
Kyle O’Reilly Feels He’s 10 Times The Performer He Was Following Stint In WWE
Joining WWE back in 2017, Kyle O’Reilly spent five years with the company – and the bulk of it around the WWE Performance Center. Getting to learn from the likes of Triple H, William Regal and Shawn Michaels did a lot for O’Reilly – and he feels it made him an all around better professional wrestler. O’Reilly would have the following to say while speaking about his time in NXT on Busted Open Radio earlier today.
“I look at it so fondly. I truly believe that I am 10 times the performer now than I was before getting signed to WWE. I’m way more polished. I have way more confidence with a microphone, I know my role better, I know how to work the main event match, I know how to work tag matches better, I have better psychology now, I feel. Yeah, I wouldn’t change anything about this journey to where I’m at now. Absolutely not.”
Many Current Goals In WWE
Right now in AEW, O’Reilly is a man with multiple goals. Alongside Bobby Fish, he’s eyeing a potential match with FTR over the ROH World Tag Team Championships, titles that reDRagon have held three previous times. Alongside Adam Cole & The Young Bucks, O’Reilly hopes to make The Undisputed Elite an unstoppable faction – and has a ten man tag team match set for next week on AEW debut.
Finally, he hopes to win the Owen Hart Memorial Cup. So far, only O’Reilly & Samoa Joe have qualified. Adam Cole faces NJPW’s Tomohiro Ishii in a qualifying match tomorrow evening, and Cash Wheeler will face tag team partner Dax Harwood next week on AEW Dynamite.
