Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a pitstop in the UK this past week to spend time with Queen Elizabeth before making their way to the Invictus Games – but was it all just a clever ploy to film content for their upcoming Netflix documentary?
Following their unprecedented visit with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Duchess Camilla, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were spotted in the Netherlands on Friday, April 15, with a Netflix film crew in tow to capture their every move.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Accused of ‘Exploiting’ the Queen for Upcoming Netflix Documentary
They received a warm welcome and much fanfare from an excited crowd who eagerly awaited a chance to see them in person. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have inked a lucrative $100 million deal for the documentary, and some believe that their efforts to make amends with some members of the Royal Family may be just for show.
Harry and Meghan’s actions may appear disingenuous because the couple turned down an invitation to Prince Philip’s memorial service earlier this year and until now, they have not stepped foot on UK soil together since 2020. ‘I have no doubt it was all done for their Netflix documentary.
The Queen’s advisers failed to protect her from being exploited by the royal family’s worst traducers, while the Sussex’s exploited an old, unwell woman to boost their credibility and coffers,’ asserted biographer Tom Bower. Others have accused Harry and Meghan of ‘cashing in’ on not only the aging Queen, but the Invictus Games as well.
‘Meghan is going because they’re doing the next Netflix documentary’, claimed author Angela Levin. ‘They’re going with cameras, and she wouldn’t want to miss out on the publicity. The Invictus Games don’t belong to her, she likes taking over things that she thinks will be productive for her. She’s not necessary there,’ she continued.
It is also believed that Harry and Meghan are only interested in traveling from California back to England if it would financially benefit them. ‘I think they’ll come back if we’ll allow them to bring Netflix cameramen. They won’t come otherwise,’ said a source.
The release of Harry and Meghan’s Netflix doc could give their image a much-needed overhaul, while lining their pockets with millions of dollars from the profitable deal. While critics believe that they only want to have ‘clear the air talks’ with the Queen and Prince Charles to please American producers of their upcoming documentary,’ it remains to be seen whether or not Harry and Meghan’s meeting with the Queen were pure and authentic.
