Queen Elizabeth II opened up on her recent battle with Covid 19 by branding it as an ‘exhausting’ experience.
Queen Elizabeth II Was Left ‘Tired And Exhausted’ Following Her Battle With Covid 19-‘This Horrible Pandemic’
According to reports, the monarch tested positive for the virus in February 2022. She had been diagnosed with ‘mild cold-like symptoms.’ Although she did manage to carry on with her duties, the very fact of the matter is that Covid did take it out of her.
And during the course of a video call with the Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel, the Queen came clean on her experiences with a former Covid patient, Asef Hussain, and his wife.
In her comments, she said: “It does leave one very tired and exhausted, doesn’t it? This horrible pandemic. It’s not a nice result.”
But just as the virus had an impact on her physical health, the monarch also recognised the consequences that the pandemic has had on people’s mental health.
The Queen was all too aware of this first-hand after she was forced to self-isolate from her family including her grandchildren.
And at a time where her health is not in the best possible state, coupled with the fact that she is not getting any younger, it was not an easy task.
That is something that the monarch and Asif could relate too. She added: “Of course, not being able to see your relatives was very hard.”
Despite the hardship that the pandemic has caused, the Queen did end the call on a positive note. She marvelled at how the British nation, just as many other countries have done, banded together at a time where people are struggling.
This was seen through the Royal family themselves. Princess Eugenie was pictured packaging food boxes with the Salvation Army, while Kate Middleton was involved in delivering food to those self-isolating.
And that spirit has kept the country together. The Queen continued: “It is very interesting, isn’t it, when there is some very vital thing, how everybody works together and pulls together – marvellous, isn’t it?”
