During the recent Grammy awards, Lil Nas was up for five nominations. This included the categories of best album, record and song of the year.
Not only that, but he was also nominated for best melodic rap performance, and music video. And after having had so much success, it is not surprising that the musician wanted to celebrate with a bang.
In a post to his fans on Instagram, Lil Nas shared a video of him entering the house. The hallway is covered with balloons, and as he walks through the door, confetti is being thrown as everybody celebrates.
It was clearly a very special moment for him to be with his family. After all, they did stand by him in the face of controversy over his music success. Lil Nas had been criticised for the music video to his song ‘ Montero.’
His critics had accused it of having over-sexualised themes that were conflated with religious references. But through those moments, his family was on hand to make sure that he pulled through.
And that is why he wanted to show just how much he valued them. In a post on Twitter, he remarked: “This is a collective thank@u to everyone who’s telling my happy birthday.
“This is for everybody so nobody can’t say I didn’t say thank you. I’m saying it right here ok?” Despite the best birthday wishes, the fans wanted to see him focus on his music.
A certain subset of people felt that his music had to be improved, irrespective of the fact that he had been nominated at the Grammys.
After all, Lil Nas did fail to walk away with a single award. One fan wrote: “I’m begging u to make GOOD music.” Lil Nas will be hoping to go one better next year and pick up a Grammy.
