Vince McMahon was always a visionary of bigger things as he grew the WWE into an international product by focusing on better production values and acquiring TV deals.
Now it looks like the WWE is going to branch out into more stadium events in 2023 following the success of the 2020 Royal Rumble.
In 2021 they held WrestleMania in Raymond James Stadium and SummerSlam at Allegiant Stadium as they continued to pursue their new goal.
WWE to Have More Stadium Events in 2023
They reportedly have an additional 8 premium live events scheduled for more stadiums in 2022. According to Andrew Zarian, that number is set to go up in 2023.
He also explained the reasoning for the decision and that it’s a Nick Kahn move in a comment to his initial tweet.
“A source over at WWE mentioned that WWE intends to run more stadium shows moving forward in 2023. Just for reference 2022 has 8 stadium events. The goal is to make this the new norm. This is a Nick Khan approach when it comes to Premium Live Events.
“The scalability of large stadiums is very beneficial when it comes to having live attendance over 15k. The event doesn’t have to be a sell-out of 50k+ but now you have room to do 20-35k shows more often leading to much higher revenue & higher level of excitement for the event.”

The new normal
The WWE used to perform in stadium here and there, but not on this type of scale. It’s a sign of the WWE trying to further push the boundaries to have their product appear larger than life.
It makes sense and it’s typical of Vince McMahon and it demonstrates how he and Kahn are working in sync. At least in this arena.
So far in 2022, the Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 38 were held in stadiums with WrestleMania drawing a reported 150k fans over its two nights.
Though to be fair, it’s been reported that Vince over hyped the numbers and they’re allegedly more around 100 to 120k, but that’s still an impressive number as 15-20k in an arena.
Their upcoming schedule is impressive as they’re going to have Money in the Bank and SummerSlam in stadiums, and then the WWE will be heading to the UK for their first stadium show there in roughly 30 years.
Few things match a live event, and when it comes to stadiums things don’t get much better.
