Alina and Caleb reconnected after they had not been in contact for more than ten years, they decided to move their relationship up a notch and started dating; and they shared their story using TLC’s platform. However, this story was cut short when Alina made a racist comment, causing viewers to look into her old posts. Based on the accusation that Alina was racist, viewers clamored that she be removed from the show.

Producers of the show then removed the couple. When speaking concerning the issue, Caleb stated that he never knew Alina to be that way as he was also shocked when he found out. Alina seems to be trying to redeem herself as she constantly posts inspirational quotes on her Instagram. She also openly condemned the actions of Russia, even as a citizen of the county.

This action of Alina has made her feel unsafe in Russia amidst the war against Ukraine. She revealed in her video on YouTube that she and her roommate, Elijah had decided to leave the country. They planned to move to Argentina. But their debit cards didn’t work and she had to reach out to her ex boyfriend who helped them pay for their tickets. In the video, Alina said, “He officially helped us escape Russia and we are grateful to him.”
This is just another way to show viewers that Caleb has always been supportive of Alina and its proving true now that they are no longer together and it’s not necessary that he helps them. Elijah and Alina are currently staying in an Airbnb and have purchased sim cards.
