Toni Storm & Britt Baker are easily two of the biggest stars in the AEW Women’s division, and tonight they battle for a chance to be in the finals of the Owen Hart Memorial Cup. They will face either Kris Statlander or Ruby Soho, in a match to be held later this week on AEW Rampage.
Britt Baker Steals The Finals Spot From Toni Storm
Toni Storm came into this match with a perfect 5-0 record, showing just how dialled in she’s been since making her debut for AEW. They’d lock up hard to start this match, and as Baker looked for a headlock, Storm would grab the wrist. Side headlock would be applied, before Storm would use her powerful legs for a headscissor.
Baker would kick her legs to inch closer to the ropes, allowing for the rope break. Storm took this one to the floor for a brawl, driving the head of Baker off the ring post. Baker would gain control, before she would pull Storms face into the ring post.
Both ladies would exchange forearm blows in the ring, before Baker nailed a thrust kick. Pittsburgh Sunrise was blocked, before Storm hit a snap tornado DDT, and followed up with a rushing hip attack. Alabama Slam would be set, but Baker blocked with the Air Raid Crash.
Jamie Hayer stomped to ringside, before Baker hit a Spinning Neckbreaker. Storm would keep fighting and hit a DDT on the floor, before taking Hayter off the apron. Baker would use a rope assisted roll up to get the win, in dirty fashion. It’s a stolen win, which is something Owen Hart was not afraid to do in his career.
Samoa Joe & Kyle O’Reilly Battle With Honor
Adam Cole already punched his ticket to Double or Nothing, and tonight finds out who his opponent in the finals of the Owen Hart Memorial Cup will be. Kyle O’Reilly & Samoa Joe are two of the best grapplers in the world today, and both former ROH World Champions. However, only one can advance – and there’s a good chance of seeing an all Undisputed Elite finals.
O’Reilly would start off with a tight leg kick, before being kicked in the chest by Joe. Joe would show his takedown defence against O’Reilly, and would avoid any potential submissions. O’Reilly would almost get put into the Rear Naked Choke, before being levelled by a heavy handed chop.
Joe would follow up with a harsh bodyslam, before a chop to the neck, a kick to the face, and a jumping elbow drop. O’Reilly would drive the shoulder of Joe into the mat, before a Dragon Screw leg whip in the ropes. Joe would take a knee drop to the arm shortly after, before O’Reilly looked for the cross armbreaker.
Joe would block the submission, before O’Reilly took this one to the outside. A forearm smash would level O’Reilly, but back in the ring – was unable to keep O’Reilly controlled. Joe took a knee to the shoulder, before hitting the big boot and senton to try and defeat O’Reilly. A lariat would follow, but Joe couldn’t get the win.
Muscle Buster was blocked into an armbar, but Joe fought free. O’Reilly took a knee strike, and was able to fight back with a PK. Rear Naked Choke was applied, and O’Reilly was put to sleep. Samoa Joe moves to the finals!
