Elon Musk is reportedly facing a mutiny amongst employees at Twitter following his recent take over to buy the company.
Elon Musk Faces A Mutiny After Reports That Twitter Employees Resign Following His Takeover
The billionaire purchased the social media platform for a reported $44 billion. And as part of that process, the mogul has already made it clear that he is going to revamp the platform with a focus on reducing the platform’s tendency to ban accounts that express certain views.
While that may be the case, it seems that not everybody is on board with what Elon is wanting to achieve. It is claimed that at an emergency meeting employees informed the executives of the company that ‘the PR speak is not landing.’
As a result, reports indicate that hundreds and thousands of employees have already resigned in protest. This has apparently been on the grounds that Elon could allow those who had previously been banned from the platform for having supposed inflammatory views to make a return once again, as part of his wider focus on freedom of speech.
In his statement after buying Twitter, Elon said: “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.”
And by the looks of it, it seems that Elon has already begun to make headway in that regard. According to the Wall Street Journal, right wing activist Charles Johnson could make a return to Twitter.
He had initially been banned on the grounds that he had apparently raised money on the platform in order ‘“take out” a member of the Black Lives Matter movement.
So when Charles was asked if he had any intentions of returning, this is what he had to say: “Hopefully soon.”
Time will tell if people get behind Elon’s visions for a new Twitter, but given everything that we have seen so far, the billionaire certainly has a lot of work in convincing people. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
