Jake Paul Will Fight Canelo Alvarez In Three Years

Jake Paul Will Fight Canelo Alvarez In Three Years

Jake Paul is known for his loud mouth and saying what is on his mind without giving much thought to whether it will insult someone. He has a long-time beef with Canelo Alvarez, the now-former light-heavyweight boxing champion.

This Saturday, May 7th, Canelo Alvarez lost his title to Dmitry Bivol by a unanimous decision. This starts the young rising star Jake Paul and he shares a video that he addresses to the ones who do not believe in his ability to beat Canelo as well.

Jake Paul Will Fight Canelo Alvarez In Three Years From Now

Paul doesn’t hide his willingness to face Canelo Alvarez in the ring. Moreover, he thinks that his size will be an advantage over the Mexican. While bragging about his size advantages, he mentions some numbers like that he is 20lbs heavier and 2-3 inches taller, but he didn’t say that he can beat the former champion straight away. But he can beat him in 3 years from now. And that is what surprises everyone.

“And just like that, Canelo Alvarez loses to Dmitry Bivol. An amazing fight by Bivol. I’m two inches bigger than Bivol, 20 pounds heavier. Give me three years, I take out Canelo in the same way.” – he says.

Jake Paul is so loud that he wants this fight that the public expects him to be ready to fight in couple of months, and not in a matter of years. Nevertheless, do we need to accept this as an excuse? Jake Paul is surprisingly afraid of Canelo Alvarez now. That would make a great headline. And I think it wouldn’t be wrong.

The YouTuber turned boxer is not in good communication with Eddie Hearn as well. For those who don’t know, Eddie Hearn is a promoter responsible for some of the greatest matches in boxing history.

Lately he laughed at Jake Paul for saying that he can beat Canelo Alvarez. And he’s made some comments on it as well.

“The problem is, I won’t be disrespectful, but at the same time, I’m not going to brown-nose him, as we call. I’m going to be honest. There are so many fighters out there that I would say are average. That’s not poor, that’s not good. It’s in the middle. So I’m saying that you’re an average professional fighter. That’s a massive compliment. But this is a guy who would say to me, off-camera, ‘In two years, I will beat Canelo Alvarez.’ And I would sort of look around for a camera and realize there isn’t one, and I think, wow. I think he’s so deluded. So deluded, but that delusion and that confidence will actually help him in the ring, because he does go in there and genuinely think he’s a world-class fighter.” – Hearn says.

To this Jake Paul replies in his fashion. Honestly and explicitly. “Eddie Hearn, fuck you, you can suck my dick! I’m coming, I’m beating Canelo in three fucking years. I put that on my momma. Congrats, Dmitry Bivol. You show that Canelo is easily beatable by a bigger man, which is what I’ve known this whole entire time. Believe in youself. And do not listen to British scumbags.”

Now, lets break the situation down. Canelo Alvares, despite his loss to Bivol still remains one of the best boxing fighters in the world. He has 61 fights in total, out of which he has 57 wins, two draws and only two losses. He is professionally active since 2005 and in these 17 years that he fights, he manages to have up to 7 fights per year. That means only one thing. This guy is not getting out of shape at all. He is constantly in his top form and when asked to fight someone he does not make deadlines like Jake Paul does. He does not count in years, he is ready to fight at all times.

As to every fighter, some omissions will happen sometime, like this with the Bivol fight, but that doesn’t mean that an ‘average’ fighter can beat him.

Dmitry Bivol on the other hand is a great fighters as well. He hasn’t lost a fight until now. He has a record of 20-0-0 making him undisputed in his weight division. This is not the first time that he beats someone with a much greater record than him. He won against Jean Pascal and Isaac Chilemba back in 2018, he won against Umar Salamov and Craig Richards in 2021. He gets better as time passes.

Now let us look at Jake Paul. He has a 5-0-0 record, BUT none of his opponents so far are professional boxers. They all come from different sports. Even though they have some skill and are not to be underestimated – they are not boxers at the end of the day. Jake Paul makes really strong comments about being one of the top boxers, being able to knock out actual boxing champions and etc. However, in order to get to that level, he needs to start fighting some boxers first. How can one expect to be put against some champion, or former champion for the matter of fact, if he doesn’t prove himself against some pro-boxer?

So, we can conclude that, even though Jake Paul has some unquestionable skill and is able to knock out many non-boxers, he is not on the level to be given a title shot. Let him prove himself, let him feel how is it like to fight someone who knows his ‘job’. As long as he is fighting some random dudes he will remain nothing more than an ‘average’ fighter as Hearn says.

And as his promoting abilities are concerned, we must give that one to him. He is a great promoter. He promotes his fights to that level that they attract more interest than many pro-fights with much greater names.

After all, Eddie Hearn gave him this acknowledgment as well.

“I’m excited to see what he’s going to do next. I think he’s very exciting. He brought a huge amount of eyeballs to Taylor/Serrano fight. I think he’s an engaging character, and I think he can fight a little bit.”

What do you think? Does Jake Paul have what it takes to take on Canelo Alvares?

If you don’t know the answer to the above, just answer the next one and you’ll know. Would you bet money on Jake Paul in such a fight?
