John Cena Could Return to WWE Soon as His 20th Anniversary Nears
While chatting with Adam Glyn on the Adam’s Apple podcast, he briefly discussed how his workout routine changed now that he’s 45-years-old. For those interested, it’s based more on the time he has available given his busy schedule.
Per Robert DeFelice of Fightful’s transcription:
“Oh, soon. I know in WWE, I turn 20 pretty soon so that’s a pretty big thing. From a pretty storied class of folks Batista, Randy Orton, Brock, we kind of all turn 20 this year, so I’m aware that that’s coming around the corner, and who knows, but it’s one of those hard truths to bear.
There’s a lot of cool stuff going on, and I don’t want to say no to any opportunities that are on my doorstep. So, I don’t know when I’ll be back. But hopefully, it’s soon. I’ve been gone for too long.”
John Cena last appeared in a broadcasted WWE match saw him go against Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2021. That bout was a losing effort for the Universal Title which put a button on the “Summer of Cena.”
However, the former Master of Thuganomics each and every dark match and house show bout he was in between July and September 2021. His regular partners were the Mysterios but he also tagged with Matt Riddle and Damien Priest for some in-ring action.
Currently, Cena is busy with his acting career as he stars in Peacemaker as the titular character and is the host of Wipeout. He also has a few film projects percolating.
