Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were distraught when they declared their decision to leave the Royal family in 2020 to the royal staff.
Meghan Was Emotionally Distraught When She Said Her Goodbyes To The Royal Family-‘The Tears The Duchess Has Been Holding Back Were Free To Flow’
That is according to royal experts Omid Scobie and Carolyn Duran in their book entitled ‘Finding Freedom.’ It was clearly a difficult decision that was not taken lightly, given the steps that had to be taken.
Harry, in particular, was leaving his family to live across the other side of the world. And in the process of doing so, there was always a risk that things could backfire without the safety of his family. So when it came time to say goodbye, things got very emotional indeed.
One passage of the book outlines the exact moment: “Harry quietly slipped through the door of the 1844 Room to say hello, and the reality – and the emotions – finally set in.
“Meghan turned around to hug goodbye, the last remaining people in the room.” And when Meghan said her goodbyes, she had become overwhelmed by it all.
Despite her differences with the Royal family, it was still her home for a period of around two years. And after having forged memories and some good relations, she began to overflow with tears, knowing that this was the end.
The book added: “With the state room almost empty except for a few familiar faces, the tears the duchess has been holding back were free to flow.
“She embraced some of the dedicated team members whose tireless efforts – to promote the couple’s work.”
However, with Meghan and Harry set to appear at Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee, she will have the opportunity to see some familiar faces.
Whether they are all still on cordial terms is anyone’s guess, but given the manner that Meghan had behaved on her final day, perhaps she will be seeing more than just members of the Royal family.
And who knows, she may shed another tear or two. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
