El Lindaman has a tough week ahead of him, being the defending G-REX Champion in GLEAT. However before he defends that belt – he needs to face the increasingly dangerous threat that is DOUKI. Over the last few tournaments, DOUKI has been able to find more and more success in the Best of the Super Juniors tournament – and looks to get perhaps his biggest win yet tonight.
DOUKI Starts This tournament Off The Right
DOUKI kicked this match off fast, nailing an elbow strike. Lindaman fired back with some strikes of his own, finishing with a dropkick to the neck. DOUKI nailed a charging Lindaman with some boots in the corner, before being twisted into the ropes and hit with a neckbreaker. He’d regain control using the top rope – before applying an abdominal stretch.
Lindaman got free using the bottom rope, before taking some double axe handle smashes to the back. He’d block a suplex attempt from DOUKI, before hitting a big dropkick. A takedown into a DDT would get Lindaman a two count, before looking for a German Suplex.
DOUKI fought free and nailed a Northern Lights Suplex for a near fall. Rolling elbow would be met by an exploder suplex, before Lindaman hit a double stomp. Lindaman went up top – but dove right into the DOUKI CHOUKI. He’d be able to fight his way to the ropes – allowing freedom from this submission.
Lindaman would hit a dropkick to the rear of DOUKI in the corner before a powerbomb and wheelbarrow attempt. DOUKI would blow into a pinfall, before reapplying the submission. Lindaman broke free and was hit with a Suplex de La Luna for the finish.
BUSHI & El Phantasmo Battle For Early Points
BUSHI & El Phantasmo are no strangers to each other, as they are tied with a simple 1-1 record in singles matches. ELP has been forced to re-think how he approaches tournament action without the loaded boot with Sudden Death. However, he proved his skills once again against Will Ospreay in the New Japan Cup – and tonight will look to take out BUSHI and start this tournament off with some steam.
ELP started off with some taunting, strutting and doing backflips until BUSHI kicked him in the stomach. BUSHI came off the top rope with a dropkick, before heading to the floor. He’d avoid the dive of BUSHI, before raking at the back. A stalling vertical suplex would allow for a two count, before BUSHI had his hand nailed with some knee drops.
ELP would walk the ropes, showing some athletic skill – all for a back rake. He’d go back to the ropes, and got crotched. BUSHI nailed the Tope Suicida, before some heavy chops in the ring. A DDT would allow for a near fall, but the neckbreaker would be countered. ELP went for the UFO, but BUSHI avoided the impact.
ELP would nail a huge double knee gutbuster, before looking for CR2. BUSHI got the roll up, but only a two count. ELP nailed a quick lariat, before Sudden Death and CR2 for the victory.
