New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) continued the Best of the Super Juniors series (BOSJ 27) on November 23, 2020, at the G Messe Gunma in Gunma, Japan. The COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) reduced crowd of 820 showed up to see a night of Junior Heavyweight action.
The third series match of the event saw former three-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, BOSJ 25 winner, and Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) member “Time Bomb” Hiromu Takahashi face Suzuki-Gun member Douki. While Douki came into the match winless during the BOSJ 27 campaign, his growth in form is clear to when he made his NJPW debut during BOSJ 26.
He came into the match after a November 20th loss to reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion “Bone Soldier” Taiji Ishimori, while Hiromu was able to gain the fall over fellow LIJ member and former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Bushi on the same night.
Douki showed how far he has come when matched against the arguable Ace of the NJPW Junior Heavyweight division. His form was on display as he asked Hiromu several questions that former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion struggled throughout to answer.
However, Hiromu showed his resilience, refusing to stay on his back foot as he pressed forward against the Suzuki-Gun member. Hiromu was able to gain the fall at the 16 minute and 33-second mark with his Time Bomb technique.
The victory takes Hiromu to (3-1) [6 points] while Douki fell to (0-4) [0 points]. Hiromu would go on to face NJPW Noge Dojo Young Lion Yuya Uemura on November 25th, while Douki would go on to face ‘Way to the Grand Master’ Master Wato on the same night.
Hiromu’s win puts him at the top of the BOSJ 27 table as he looks to win his second trophy during his time in NJPW. Though Douki is searching for his first victory during the campaign, he is definitely progressing during the career.
