It’s just about time for Best of the Super Juniors, back in it’s usual spot in the NJPW calendar. Much like the G1 Climax, this is a round robin tournament – featuring two large blocks of talent. As the borders are opening up once again, we can expect some surprises this time around. Hiromu Takahashi & El Desperado were already confirmed for the field – being the previous years victor and reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion respectively – but who would fill out the two blocks of action?
AEW, CMLL & Impact Wrestling Get Entrants In Best of The Super Juniors
There will be two blocks of ten men, and they will face everyone in their block. You get two points for a win, and one for a draw. Each match has a strict 30 minute time limit as well. The top scorers in each block will then meet in the finals, with the winner getting a shot at the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion at Dominion. The full blocks are as follows.

YOH
Clark Connors (NJPW Strong)
Hiromu Takahashi
Yoshinobu Kanemaru
Ace Austin (Impact Wrestling)
Alex Zayne (Indies)
Francesco Akira

Finally Capturing The True Spirit Of The Tournament Again
This is a stacked field to say the least. Plenty of outside names are here to mix things up, with Ace Austin & Wheeler Yuta being names to watch. This also bodes well for Impact & AEW potentially having names in the G1 Climax & World Tag League later this year.
We have many of the names expected as well, with the best entrants of the 2020 & 2021 tournament on hand. Some of the best from NJPW Strong are also here, with Clark Conners being a graduate of the LA Dojo. It’s the most interesting the tournament has been in years, and is finally capturing the true spirit of the tournament.
This tournament kicks off on May 15th. Who do you see winning the 2022 Best of the Super Juniors tournament? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
