Robbie Eagles is one of three men still alive in the B-Block, but he needs things to play out a certain way. First, he needs to defeat Titan – which is not easy, as the luchador looks to finish with a personal best. Eagles will also need Phantasmo to lose later in this show, as he can beat him in a tie for 12 points, but Phantasmo would be unstoppable at 14 points. Beating Titan is the only thing that Eagles has control over, and that starts here.
Robbie Eagles Can’t Afford A Loss To Titán
Titán would go right after the wrapped up leg of Eagles to start this match, before fight his way to his feet. After a fine showing of agility, they would shake hands, before Eagles tripped Titán up before taking a springboard arm drag. Titán was dropped with a thrust kick to the mid-section, before Eagles hit some chops in the corner.
A lariat would land as Titán soared through the ropes, before he’d send Eagles to the floor. Titán would hit the dive through the ropes, keeping that pressure on. Double stomp from the top rope out to the floor would follow, but Titán missed and jammed his knee as he landed on the floor.
Eagles hit the Cannonball dive to the floor, before taking Titán into the ring and hitting the low 619 to the back of the knee before a double knee strike landed. Titán dodged a lariat before managing a jumping back kick, and hitting the shoulder breaker.
Eagles would look for Ron Miller Special, but Titán blocked into a pinfall – and scored the three count! This puts Eagles out of the running for the finals, and ends his tournament at 10 points. Titán finishes at 8 points, a strong run for the CMLL star.
Francesco Akira Comes Into This Match Incredible Focused
Ace Austin has no hope of making the finals in his first ever Best of the Super Juniors tournament at this point, having been taken out of the running by Ryusuke Taguchi. However the X-Division champion can finish at an impressive 12 points, all but confirming he’ll get brought back next year. However tonight, he has his final block match – and Francesco Akira wants to beat a champion, and plan his next steps around some golden dreams.
Akira would talk some trash in his native tongue, before an aggressive lockup. Austin would be able to trip Akira up before a back kick, before being sent to the floor. He’d duck under the baseball slide, and hit a dropkick to land up on the apron to hit the PK.
Soar To Glory was blocked by a slingshot cutter, getting a two count. Brutta Faccia landed in the corner, before Austin blocked Speedfire. House of Cards would be blocked into a roll up, but only got a two count. Double springboard roundhouse would land, before Akira nailed a snap double stomp.
Shotgun dropkick would send Austin into the corner, before Akira took House of Cards. The Fold would be signalled, and Akira blocked before being put onto the top rope. He’d hit the Sunset Bomb before an Asai Moonsault after Austin went to the floor. Speedfire on the floor would take Austin out, granting Akira the countout win!
Akira grabbed the belt after the match, making it clear that he wants that belt. Will Akira get his title shot? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
