The confidence of Master Wato is steadily going down, as he drops match after match. He’s practically handing out IWGP Junior Heavyweight tag team title shots, and former champion Robbie Eagles would love to get Flying Tiger a shot tonight. Eagles has two wins over Wato, and only a single loss – giving him every reason to be confident coming into this match.
Master Wato Is Done Handing Out Title Shots
Both men would look to start this match with kicks, before Wato would quickly latch onto Vendaval – first time of the tournament. Wato wouldn’t get the submission, but managed to spook Eagles into rushing the ropes. Eagles would take some heavy strikes in the corner, but was able to come back with a dropkick in the middle of the ring.
Wato would send Eagles to the floor for a dive, before a springboard back elbow into the ring. Eagles would fire back with the blindside elbow, before the 450 Splash to the knee was blocked – but the counter was scouted. Wato would get a cradle pinfall for two, before both men would exchange forearms on the mat.
Eagles baited a headkick, and would counter right into Ron Miller Special. Wato got to the ropes, before a High Angle German Suplex would land. RPP was set, but Eagles caught him on the top rope. A leg sweep saw Wato land neck first on the ropes, before Eagles looked for a dive and took a headkick.
Tenzan Piledriver was blocked before Turbo Backpack was attempted. Wato would slip into a pinfall, and was able to hold the shoulder down for a three count.
Yoshinobu Kanemaru Focuses His Attack
Yoshinobu Kanemaru is getting more and more annoyed as he drops matches to start this tournament. He’s dropped his first three, while Hiromu Takahshi has been on a winning streak. Kanemaru needs to get the win tonight if he wants any chances at the finals – or even just to stop Takahashi from a clean sweep of the A-Block.
Kanemaru would attack before Hiromu even completed his entrance, stomping away at the knee. Time Bomb was attempted by Hiromu, only to get rolled up. Two basement dropkicks would land, and Figure Four Leg Lock would be applied, but Hiromu would be able to break free.
Hiromu would have his legs wrapped around the ring post, before a steel chair was used on the legs. Knee smash onto the floor would follow, and Hiromu was furter punished with a kneebreaker onto a steel chair. He’d almost lose to a count out, but made it back into the ring at 19.
Figure Four Leg Lock would follow, as Hiromu would fight to reach the ropes. He was unable to make it, and had no choice but to tape out. The focused attack of Kanemaru worked perfectly here, and got him on the scoreboard.
