Brody King made the mistake of stepping up to Minoru Suzuki at Windy City Riot – and now has to step into the ring against the legendary Suzuki. While King come into this one with a size advantage – Suzuki has chopped down larger opponents in the past. This is certain to be a hard hitting affair, and could be just what it takes for King to get a bigger role in NJPW going forward. He showed no fear when faced with the living legend, which is more than can be said for most.
Brody King Does More Than Survive The Assault Of Minoru Suzuki
Suzuki would start with a chop, and King followed suit. They’d trade blows in the middle of the ring, before Suzuki started to work the arm, using the top rope and then luring King into an armbar attempt. King simply flexed and prevented this, before hitting a big lariat.
This one spilled to the floor, but King made a crucial error and chopped the ring post. Suzuki would take advantage of this in the ring, before hitting a PK for the near fall – before going right into a kimura lock. King was unable to stop the submission, but reached out to get the bottom rope.
King would shove Suzuki into the corner before a running splash, before the cannonball senton. Gonzo bomb would be countered, before Suzuki nailed some more overhand chops. King was lured into more chops, before Suzuki attacked the hand once again.
A Made Man After This Massive Victory
King would move to forearm blows instead, only to have his chin checked by Suzuki who nailed two perfectly placed strikes. The running boot was blocked, with King getting a German Suplex. Suzuki would block the Gonzo Bomb and apply the sleeper hold.
Suzuki looked for the Gotch Style Piledriver, but King was able to get himself free. Right back to the Rear Naked Choke, King would have to toss Suzuki off his shoulders – and got a near fall off a lariat. He’d finally get the Gonzo Bomb after two more hard lariats, and even Suzuki wasn’t getting up from a drop like that!
This was hands down the biggest win of King’s career, even with his being in AEW. Suzuki was able to bring out the absolute best in King – and who knows what the future holds for Brody King after tonight.
