United Empire’s Jeff Cobb & Great-O-Khan have been one of the most dominant tag teams in NJPW for a while now, and now they have the gold to prove it. However tonight, both former champions Bishamon and one of BULLET CLUB’s top teams have taken aim at them. Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI really need to redeem their past loss, while Bad Luck Fale & Chase Owens want to claim tag team gold for the first time. It’s also a Tongan Tornado affair, with no tags being needed in this chaotic match.
Triple Threat Tongan Tornado Rules Essentially Mean No Rules
Fale would strike first, with he and Owens taking out Jeff Cobb. Bishamon meanwhile took on Great-O-Khan in the ring, before Fale & Owens attacked Goto from behind. A series of fast strikes would get a two count on Goto, Bishamon hit a hip-toss senton on Owens for a two count.
Great-O-Khan would save the match, as Cobb helped to set up a near fall. Cobb was able to hit a huge standing moonsault, before Owens hit a shotgun dropkick to send him to the floor. Fale & Owens would crush YOSHI-HASHI in the corner before a backbreaker.
A knee to the jaw would follow on YOSHI-HASHI before Goto stopped the package piledriver attempt. Goto would proceed to suplex Great-O-Khan onto YOSHI-HASHI before the GotoGoto Hunter on Great-O-Khan. Violent Flash on Owens was blocked before Fale was tripped onto Owens. Bishamon hopped on the back, but Fale shrugged them off.
Nine Years After BULLET CLUB Forms, Chase Owens & Bad Luck Fale Claim Gold
Fale & Cobb would meet in the middle of the ring, and traded heavy forearm blows. A huge bodyslam on Fale would amaze fans, but YOSHI-HASHI quickly hit the basement dropkick. Great-O-Khan was levelled by a lariat, before fighting off the Karma Attempt. Violent Flash & Shoto would follow – but Owens stopped the pinfall.
Owens & Goto would trade blows in the middle of the ring, with Owens showing some heart before Goto took him down. Cobb would hit the ring but took the Ushigoroshi. Cobb would follow up by hitting Tour of the Islands. Fale would stop the pinfall and hit the Grenade & Rocket Launcher – claiming the belts!
After the bell, Cobb & Great-O-Khan would try to get the rematch, but were told to hit the bricks. Fale would try and pick a fight with Togi Makabe who was on commentary. Who will get the first shot at these new champions? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
