Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be banned, along with Prince Andrew, from standing with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton at the Platinum Jubilee. Buckingham Palace has announced that, unlike the 2019 gathering on the Buckingham Palace balcony, this year’s event would be a bit different . “Members of the Royal family who are currently undertaking official public duties,” as announced by the Palace are the only people expected to be joining Queen Elizabeth for the lineup on June 2.
Only Working Royals Are Expected To Show Up At The Event
It is also expected that the Queen would be present at some Jubilee events, although the exact events she would be attending won’t be known until a day before or on the said date due to the mobility problems the monarch is presently facing which has made her cancel a number of events in the past months.
Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Will Not Be Present On The Place Balcony
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Prince Andrew, and his daughters—Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie will not be part of the line up on the Balcony as they are no longer working royals. However, they will be expected to attend other jubilee events like the Thanksgiving service.
Although Prince Harry and Meghan Markle would not be in the line up, they are still flying down to the UK along with their children—Archie and Lilibet for the Jubilee. The spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess also stated that they were “excited and honored to attend the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June.”
With the many activities like the Epsom Derby, the National Service of Thanksgiving which will hold at St Paul’s Cathedral, the Platinum Jubilee Pageant and reappearance of the Gold Coach that are lined up to celebrate the Queen’s 70th year on the throne, the Queen is expected to attend all, should her strength allow her.
With the Queen’s principle of no “half-in, half-out” royals, those expected to be with the Queen on the balcony on June 2 are the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William and Kate Middleton along with their children, the Earl and Countess of Wessex along with their children, the Princess Royal—Anne, along with her husband, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra.
