“Never think that war, no matter how necessary, nor how justified, is not a crime.” – Ernest Hemingway
A wise quote once said by the great writer Hemingway shows itself to be true once again, after more than one hundred years. Even though Hemingway said these words 100 years ago, humanity is not listening to any of it, since the interests of one person are always prevailing over the will for peace.
Trapped Ukrainian Soldiers Ask For Elon Musk’s Help
The war in Ukraine is raging for more than 3 months now. During the clash, many lives have been lost on both sides, but the thirst for more is still not satisfied.
At a strategic port, near Azovstal, Ukrainian soldiers have been trapped in a no-exit situation and are exhausting all options available to save themselves from there. One of the last options is to go public and ask for the world leaders’ attention and help for evacuation.
That is exactly what the commander of the brigade, Serhiy Volyna did. He creates a Twitter account solely for the purpose of spreading his voice all over the world, for the leaders to hear it.
He records a video asking for help and shares it on all platforms, so it can reach as much publicity as possible. In the video, he pleads with world leaders and diplomats for a Dunkirk-style evacuation of troops and civilians out of Azovstal. They have been offered to surrender several times, and on multiple occasions, they refuse to do so. They are afraid to risk surrendering since even if surrendered, there is no guarantee that they will walk alive from there.
The commander, as I say, tries every possible option to save himself and his battalion from the Russian grasp. After the video, he posts a tweet with the aim to the new Twitter owner, Elon Musk.
“People say you come from another planet to teach people to believe in the impossible. Our planets are next to each other, as I live where it is nearly impossible to survive. Help us get out of Azovstal to a mediating country. If not you, then who?” – Volyna tweets.
Since the war in Ukraine began, Twitter account registration in these regions boomed. People are trying to reach out to help in any way possible.
Elon Musk has a quite popular Twitter account having more than 90 million followers. Through Twitter, he once before sent a challenge to President Putin for single combat over Ukraine. Which of course remained unanswered.
However, Musk is doing his part in this war. He is helping as much as he can. In April he responded to the Ukrainian call for Internet service and activated his Starlink Satelite broadband service and sent equipment to make the Internet available to areas where Russia attacks.
So yes, he did help in a way. What else can a billionaire do? Send a donation for first aid and ammunition? Yeah, that might be a refreshment for the Ukrainian troops.
