It is no secret that Elon Musk is inclining more toward the conservative wing of USA politics. Resources say that he is a big supporter of former President Donald Trump. And this is merely a secret. He states that he is a fan of Trump, and he urged him to get back on Twitter after he buys the platform. Moreover, this was put as one of his main goals after he buys the company. To bring back Donald to Twitter.
Was this call to return successful? Not really. The announcement that came from the former president himself, is that his return to the platform is not so likely to happen. He is not taking place on any mainstream social media anymore.
Donald Trump Cheers Elon Musk’s Twitter Investment
“I am not going on Twitter, I am going to stay on Truth. I hope Elon buys Twitter because he’ll make improvements to it and he is a good man, but I am going to be staying on Truth.” – Trump says to Fox News reporters.
However, we cannot say that we can determine Elon’s political orientation by this. Wanting Trump to re-join the platform might have nothing to do with his political views and opinions on Trump’s governance. Contrary to the first claim, throughout the years, Elon Musk had several statements regarding the president, and they were not so supportive of the president’s deeds.
Back in 2016, the billionaire states: “I feel a bit stronger that he is probably not the right guy. He doesn’t seem to have the sort of character that reflects well on the United States.”.
Furthermore, he strongly judges the ban on countries with predominantly Muslim populations that Trump introduced back in 2017.
“Many people negatively affected by this policy are strong supporters of the US. They’ve done right, not wrong & don’t deserve to be rejected. People should push to have as many moderates advising the President as possible. Blind hate is never the right answer.” – Musk tweets.
As it is widely known, Elon Musk was on Trump’s business advisory council until 2017. After a short membership period there, he left the council as a sign of protest against the President’s decision to withdraw from the landmark Paris Climate Accord.
“I’m departing presidential councils. Climate change is real. Leaving Paris is not good for America or the world.” – he says.
So after all this, can we conclude that he is a Trump supporter? Not really. However, due to his attacks on the Democratic wing in the USA, we might say that he is ‘sympathizing’ with the conservative views on the world.
Lastly, it is likely that the former President Donald Trump despite all the above still cheers Elon’s endeavors to the social media. Finally, Elon’s involvement in Twitter might mean less censorship and an equal ‘voice’ for all people on the platform.
So, ‘good man’ Elon, Trump wishes you all the luck in your endeavor on spreading the freedom of speech.
