    WWE Brand Split isn’t Ending

There have been plenty of reports and rumors the last few weeks that the WWE was moving on from their brand split and shifting things back to one crew, two shows.

It would’ve made sense since they gave up coming up with ridiculous reasons for wrestlers to cross back and forth to cover the other show’s holes or weak spot cause by injuries, releases, bad storytelling, etc.

One of the pluses of getting rid of the split would’ve been unifying all the titles so they would actually mean something instead of being props.

But that would’ve been a blow to WWE merchandise sales as it would’ve limited the multiple belts they would sell, though chances are they’d find a way around that.

Spoke with WWE regarding the brand split this morning

WWE source stated that the brand split will not be ending.

However, the current plan is to have more individuals jump from brand to brand depending on storylines. #WWE #WWERAW #SmackDown pic.twitter.com/8SLJcDDPH8

They say it’s the same, but it’s not the same

Andrew Zarian reported what he was told about the brand split on his Twitter account.

“Spoke with WWE regarding the brand split this morning

“WWE source stated that the brand split will not be ending.

“However, the current plan is to have more individuals jump from brand to brand depending on storylines.”

In short, there’s a brand split only until WWE Creative needs to boost ratings and cover another show’s shortcomings, or build hype for a Premium Live Event.

As such, it’s been reported that Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, and Cody Rhodes will be at the May 27 episode of Smackdown with Hell in the Cell planned for June 5.

Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live has suggested that the brand split is over since more and more wrestlers are going back and forth between the shows, making the idea moot.

    It’s the WWE way

We’ve grown used to the WWE doing their own thing from rewriting history to banning words like Diva, DG, strap, wrestling, and attack.

It’s the way Vince McMahon wants it to be, so it happens. It’s his company and he has every right to run it the way he sees fit.

The problem comes from a logical storytelling point of view. There is none. The company is trying to say they’re better than regular sports because they can create their hail mary moments, yet they do it over and over again without any threat of being surprising.

WWE Creative has been bad at best for a while now, and if moving wrestlers back and forth helps them create coherent and entertaining stories great!

But if this is what’s needed, then what’s the point of the brand split? Let us know what you think in the comments below.
