One of the best re-inventions from WWE to AEW has to be the jump from Rusev to Miro. While we had to endure his time as a gamer bro to Kip Sabian, the moment Miro became The Redeemer – it was all over for anyone he faced. Highlighting his run was a reign as TNT Champion, a reign which is considered to be the best the belt has seen yet.
Miro Feels The TNT Championship Has Gone To Shit
During a recent interview with WhatCulture, Miro would have a chance to reflect on his reign as TNT Champion. Miro would be quoted saying the following.
Well, it’s the man that creates the title, not the title that creates the man. I think everything I did with that title TNT Championship was the fruits of my labor. The title didn’t come with all this heaviness.
I mean, it came from Darby Allin which is a great competitor but, you know, it was — we’re just such different people, such a different style and then everybody that came after that, they tried to take it but that’s just not possible. When I hang onto something, it’s mine and unfortunately, the Sammy Guevara thing came in, he landed on my balls, let’s not forget about that. The finish of our TNT Title match, he did the four-70,000-do-whatever-the-thing is.
I was preparing to protect myself, he landed right on my balls and you can’t kick out of that, nobody can. So I don’t even take fault of that but I take fault — I take a fault of maybe being too good of a champion because ever since I lost that title, that title has gone to sh*ts and that’s nothing but to blame Sammy Guevara for that, so he’s got to bear the cross for that.
Currently the belt is held by Scorpio Sky, who is in his second reign as champion. Sammy Guevara is barred from challenging for it following Double or Nothing 2022, and Wardlow is projected to be the next champion.
What Is Next For Miro?
Since making his return from injury, Miro has been on a crusade to redeem everyone on the roster. He would end up in the Fatal Four Way match for the AEW All-Atlantic Championship at Forbidden Door, alongside Malakai Black, Clark Connors, and winner PAC. Right now, future plans for Miro remain unclear – but there’s potential for a feud with Kip Sabian.
Sabian was taken off TV by Miro in early 2021, and has been spotted in AEW crowds wearing a cardboard box on his head over the past few months. There’s groundwork for a feud here, while AEW finds the next big angle for Miro.
