Elon Musk is in the middle of the negotiations to take the wheel on one of the greatest social media platforms. Twitter. Elon Musk is not joking when he says that he has almost unrealistic views for all of his companies. These views most certainly include the upcoming period as well. But they are all views for the ‘greater good’ of his employees as well as for him.
Musk predicts that he will send people to Mars in an unbelievable period, taking into consideration the technology we have at the moment. He says that the world will be run by totally autonomous vehicles in the next period of decade or so. Now, after some time off, he makes another unrealistic prediction, or we should say demand. He says that he wants 1 billion users on the Twitter social media platform as soon as possible.
Elon Musk Demands A Billion Twitter Users As Soon As Possible – Hints He Will Introduce Layoffs Once He Takes Over
Twitter has around 230 million users, active on a daily basis. At the open question seminar, he suggests that measures should be taken to increase the number of active accounts on the platform. Musk greets the innovative and interesting development of the TikTok platform as well as the WeChat platform. He says that they are doing a great job keeping users engaged. He strives to get a similar user attachment for Twitter as well.
This is not the only thing that Elon had to say. He suggests that he will take a deeper thought on the lay-off question as the company is not making any considerable profit at the moment. “Right now, costs exceed revenue. That’s not a great situation.” – he says. The question of remote work is open at the conference as well.
Elon is strict about it and already introduced some strict rules for remote work in his other companies (Tesla and SpaceX). Even though for Tesla, all employees need to be physically present, for Twitter that is not the case. He says that there, these rules will be a little bit more relaxed.
Back in April, he makes the announcement of his taking over the company. Musk promised that when he takes over he will make the social media a place for free speech. The content moderation will be looked at from a whole different side.
In order to ‘make more money’ he says that he has an idea to implement subtle advertisements that will help improve the revenue. However, he will have a policy on what to advertise and what type of ads he will have. He is against old-school straightforward ads that are ‘uninteresting’.
“I’m not against advertising. I would probably talk to the advertisers and say, like, ‘hey, let’s just make sure the ads are as entertaining as possible.” – the future Twitter owner says.
So while he will most probably proceed with this overpaid deal, he will try to return the money in one or other way. What will come out of all this, we will see in the following period.
